It's so much fun seeing what we Manatees have accomplished in the 2010s! Keep it coming!

Wow, you all are way better at keeping track of your life events /races than I!!

I'm still at the same job and in the same house, so those things haven't changed. I have made some really good new friends over those years though, so I've got that going for me

Also, 2010 is when i did my first triathlon. 2011 was my first HIM. First attempt at an IM was Louisville 2017 (left course with 12 miles on the run b/c of hyperthermia ), 2d attempt 2018 Chattanooga, finished it, but there was no swim, so... First Manatee meetup was Louisville 2017.

2016 I won my AG for the Track Shack running series- 6 races of distances from 5k to 10k where you get points based upon where you finish. I'm proud of this b/c it is the one and only time I won money in a sporting event in which i competed!

I have absolutely no idea the number of races i've done over the years, but am pretty sure it's less than Janyne!

Our "Tri Age" is practically the same!

Did you an Chris have a Manatee Mini-Meet at Rev3 Florida one year? Maybe not as much of a highlight as Louisville though, huh?  Because Three Manatees = Meetup and Two Manatees = Mini-Meet hahaha!

OMG, your memory is so much better than mine! I can't believe i forgot about the REV3 meetup!  We did. The first year, 2012 i think, it was just a quick hi as i was leaving transition, but the next year he, Ann, and I met for dinner the night before.

Let's see...

Like Randee, same job, house & husband.

Got off my fat butt in 2009 & lost 30 lbs with P90X. Took the ACE personal trainer certification text (& passed) just for the knowledge in 2010 & taught kickboxing classes in 2011.

In Oct 2011, a high school friend BQ which made me want to "be a runner." I ran my first ever running race, a half marathon, in Feb 2012. In March 2013, I ran a marathon & the next day signed up for my first HIM (didn't own a bike & had never swam a lap in my life).

Did 1 sprint & 1 Olympic that summer.

HIM #2 in 2014 & in 2015 I finally ran my first standalone 5k.

Sat on the sofa for about 18 months & came out of tri retirement in 2017.

First no swim IM in 2019.

Fed up with public school policies, 2020 may bring big changes on the job front if I'm brave enough to value my emotional health over a paycheck. I have a few options I hope pan out.

Sorry I've been MIA. Retirement is exhausting. Okay, I am still in my same position but the stuff they are piling on us is exhausting. I look at the new teachers just beginning and wonder how long they are going to make it before they run away. It's sad. Just let us teach!! I love my kids, it's everything else that wears you down.

3 more days until Winter Break and then I will only have 92 days of trying to stay sane.

The "Decade in Review" posts are so fun, all I can say is that the Manatees are an active bunch! My contribution:

Personal: Same house, got married in 2018, same job. Same 3 cats, although they are all looking a little older these days

Racing - Don't have a comprehensive list but did a bunch of half marathons and various distance triathlons. Ironman in 2015. Transitioned to gravel racing in 2016.

i watched some of the live feed from the pro race. some pretty big names and the contact with them during the race was pretty cool, eg, they talked to them during transition and bc the bike was lots of loops on the race track there were some comments from the pros as they whizzed by; but by December i am pretty well raced out, so don't know that this is one i will do.

It sounds like changes are afoot! How exciting (and nerve-racking too, I'm sure). We're pulling for you!

Loving the decade posts!  Here's mine:

Same SO, same home, same job-ish.  New dog(s).  Lost a cat.

Promoted to supervisor at same job.  Started volunteering with Victim Services; started working with VS part-time/on call a few months later; now with two municipal PDs.  Started a Bachelors of Social Work this past September.

  • First Marathon in 2010 (10/10/10 actually).
  • 5-ish 5 and 10k's.
  • 8-10 HMs.
  • Two 30km trail races, about four 4-8k trail races.
  • Two OW swim races.
  • 2 Half Iron Distance Aquabikes.
  • First Tri in 2012.
  • 14 x sprint/standard.
  • 9x HIM.
  • 3 IM.

No wonder I have been feeling tired! Finally starting to get back into some training in the past week. IM Canada is gonna come up quick!

Hope everyone will get some time off over the holidays.  I am off until Jan 6th from my reg job, just a couple VS shifts in the next couple weeks.  Looking forward to some relaxing

Happy Sunday (or Monday for some) Manatees . Hope your weather is better than the all day rain I'm getting!  That rain is one reason i used a TM at the gym today. It's a curved TM, no motor, and it kicked my !  Any of you ever use one? This version is the assault air . Definite learning curve with it - it finds your bad form and makes you run "correctly".  REally great workout. I almost can't wait to run on it again

Interesting treadmill for sure, glad you liked the workout you got from it.

I hope you continue to be safe in the rains and flooding.  I saw reports of power outages and high water in many areas.  Stay dry if you can!
