Single ... Oh. So. Single. Not even a glimpse of a date on the horizon, never mind a fulfulling relationship.

My other single girl friends call our city the "dating hellmouth" ... I prefer "the drought-zone" ...

Getting back to it - I guess I'm kinda divorced ... my live-together fiance (we were never planning to legally marry) left me 18 months ago. Good riddance, I say.

meherczeg - 2009-06-11 1:58 PM i think most BTers ARE married.  a handful of recently unmarried tanners.

i guess single is what i have to use out of the choices given.

I'm single in the most literal sense. MEH here has a boyfriend, though she's not married. Though she is correct in that "taken but not married" was not a given category. I am very much single. And I don't believe there are a whole ton of other never-married single folks out on BT (ie, people under 35 who've never been married). Mostly everone seems to be married or have been married, or at least in a relationship.

Married 7 years in August.  No kids, but we do have a 5 year old black lab who we treat as our kid.

married 10 years (11 in oct, but who's counting?).  my kids are of the furry variety - one dog, one cat and furrry is the only variety we'll be having.   hubby is a runner.

Can we just clarify that if you're in, for all intents and purposes, a "relationship" with someone, even if it's not marriage, you're NOT single? I get the whole "we're not married, I want my freedom, I can do whatever I want" mumbo-jumb (and then we wonder why the divorce rate is 50%, with all this non-commitment), but it's NOT the same as actually being single. Seeing someone consistently is not being single. Living with someone is not being single.

Right, but that's not what the OP's intent was, I don't think. In terms of the OP's question, you're not single.

Funny you bring this up, I dated my wife 4 months before we got married.  I had known of her for over 1 1/2 years but bumped into her in the store asked her on a date, moved in together two weeks later, and married a few months after.  MIL hates me and swore from the beginning we wouldn't make it a month.  HAHA!!  Now I am subsidizing her mortgage and paying her power bill (I guess this is her version of a stimulus package).
Anyways, I said then and believe now, either you are right for each other or not, living together for 5 years and then marrying is no better for your marriage then dating 6 months and marrying.  Personal opinion of course, not actually backed by true or FOX facts.

Sorry about the Hijack.

but i'm not married and not divorced.  it doesn't matter the terms of her question, nobody would call neil and i married, by any stretch.

I guess we needed an option like Facebook has... "In a relationship"
Personally I don't think it's a huge deal to call yourself "single and in a relationship" - it's pretty crystal clear. And true.

I'm not saying you're married. I'm just saying there is a "taken" category between "married" and "single". She didn't mention it, but certainly it's necessary to include.

I'm with you...I'm starting to understand one of the Army sayings of "If the Army had wanted you to have a spouse, they would have issued you one..."  Apparently most everyone got issued their spouse/boyfriend before entering the Army or before-commissioning as an officer.  Thus, the pickings are slim for me...though, I did have an Iraqi Police Captain ask me to marry him...I wasn't too fond of that option and turned him down.

I am single...oh yes...very single.  And bitter at times...about being single.  Which I've been told is not a good attitude to become not single..but I say...oh well!!  It's how I roll...(along with the rolls I have...)
