Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, the "MG girls" and I have been having a separate email dialogue on some issues I've been having. While I won't provide the same level of info to the boys, I do have a question on being aero and saddles and remaining pain free....here goes: When I was riding the Seven mainly like a road bike using my Terry Butterfly all was well. I'm still riding the Seven, but am now 85/15 aero to upright and I have chafing issues on one side and a saddle sore on the other side in a place you don't have. Over the course of the last two months I wore two holes in my saddle roughly corresponding to the offended areas. I replaced it last week with a new Butterfly, but am still having the same problems......so, what say you? Do I need a different saddle when I ride mainly aero? any thoughts on what might work? A friend of mine who used to be a bike racer and is now a IM'er suggested the Fizik Airborne. A little worried about changing so close to my race, but I cannot imagine doing 112m in my current state let alone my 150K race this weekend. OUCH!!! PS. I've tried wearing a butt load of ASSOS and even carried it with me to reapply, wore bike shorts instead of tri shorts today and nothing works. |

Try the Cobb - if it doesn't work for you they have like a 180 day money back guarantee. So far so good with it. I had tried an Adamo, Profile Design, Terry and a couple of others before the Cobb to no avail. The Cobb has been good to me so far with a few longish rides and plenty of time on the trainer... Also, have you tried adjusting the tilt on the saddle? Maybe you need to lift the nose of the saddle to roll your hips back a little and take the pressure off the *ahem* girly parts.... The 3 women tri friends that I have, that have been through this, have all tried 10+ saddles between them but they ALL had issues with this part of it. Eventually they all found their final comfort spot by the tweeking of the saddle tilt. |

They do come in different widths. I have the standard. Agree that you hate to change saddles at this point in the game, but if what you have ain't working, you really don't have anything to lose. I have 2-3 woman friends who have also been happy with Cobb, fwiw. The Butterfly is a road seat, yes? I'm thinking if you are riding more and more aero you should be trying a tri seat. But I am by no means an expert on this. Keep us posted. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I would try first the Cobb, if you call them, they'll ask you some questions and figure out which saddle is right for you, and as stated earlier they have a great money back deal. I need to go look it up but you don't want to tilt the saddle down, I honestly don't remember why but I have read many times that it's bad. I'll go look it up and figure out why. ![]() I would agree with the others. I would switch seats...plenty of time and you don't have a lot to loose. |
