Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) Originally posted by amd723 Gloom, despair and agony on me manatees! My glute was as bad as it ever has been and I ended up having to DNF my half. I have been running with hamstring/ glute discomfort for months, but this was pain. I was unable to run for more than a few minutes at a time and felt like I was doing harm to my muscle, so after the first 6.5 mile loop I made the hard decision to call it a day. I have never not finished something I started, so this was a really tough call to make. But I could not run and mentally, once that became apparent, I checked out. I could not stomach walking the last lap. The really pissy thing is I felt really strong other than the searing pain . My heart rate was low, my legs - ok, the right leg, felt lively and I was ready to have a great run. I guess I should have known something was going to go wrong today when I got out of the gulf and noticed I was bleeding from a cut I somehow got on the TOP of my foot. How the hell I cut myself on top of my foot while swimming is a mystery and was apparently a bad omen. . One last thing, I may or may not be a bit tipsy right now, so please disregard anything above that does not make sense Sorry to hear this, Ann Marie, but good call. Glad you are enjoying yourself now (or drowning your sorrows?) |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) So sorry to hear this, Ann-Marie. I know you were really hopeful that it would go well. Good decision to pull the plug, though. I hope your leg gets back to normal in a timely fashion. It was really nice to meet you. |

As Jo so wisely said... go have another drink as you're clearly not tipsy enough as the above was all legible. |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) Originally posted by 4agoodlife Finally got out for a real mtn bike ride this morning. Dirty Harry is officially broken in!!! We had a great time...and I realize I make bike sound effects and talk to myself as I ride. Pics of the "easy" part of the trail. I wish I had taken a couple of the second half of the ride. Some of it was pretty crazy...well, for this out-of-practice rider at least
Um, ouch? But beautiful! And the view! Wait ... there are people who DON'T make sound effects and talk to themselves? While gettin' down and dirtay? |

It sounds like you made the right decision, but it's still hard. I cut the side of my foot during a tri swim - I think I caught it on a rock. Make sure to clean out the cut and use lots of antibiotic cream. It can get pretty infected otherwise (trust me, I know). |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) Originally posted by TriAya I am still disappointed with pulling the plug on my race, but know I did the right thing; so I'm trying to hang on to that. I Just had a nice , read: hurt so good, session with Susan the miracle masseuse. On more than one occasion she said, "you are so f*ucked up". This was in relation to my entire body being knotty and tight and not my mental state ( I'm pretty sure). In addition to her massage therapy, she is an exercise physiologist and is helping me come up with a rehab plan. Looks like a god dose of yoga, strength training, and swimming and a very small, if any, dose of running. I will be off the bike for a good deal of time.Originally posted by blueyedbikergirl Originally posted by jobaxas Originally posted by amd723 Gloom, despair and agony on me manatees!
