Felicia, I hope all is well with you, how are you healing up? I was thinking of you the other day, I can't wait for the hot weather to break and have the opportunity to get some trail running in. Have you done any in a while? 2 of my local parks are soaked from our rains, it is swamp like, so I'll avoid them for a few more months.

Are you still on for Horsethief Canyon or Run for the Rocks? Or both????

i was kinda sad to change mine back too, Yanti's pictures are so much more fun than mine. But to be honest all the Yanti's were confusing me.

me too LOL

I've updated my avi to my new favorite photo - Greenfield Tri, August 4th.

Happy Tuesday all! Back feels "normal" again - HOORAY! So I put another 2 miles on the treadmill today and will probably take tomorrow off. Last tri of the season on Sunday coming up and my pool at the Y is closed until Sunday. OMG. LOL OH well.

Have a great day. Yanti hope you are not too sore today - are you home yet?

Had my follow up today: definitely a stress fracture.  Going to be pretty conservative with healing because he thinks it may not have completely healed after the last one.  The boot is my new fashion accessory.  Not as pretty as Fluevogs, huh Monica?

There is a forum for them in the General Discussion area, if they have been shared. Yours should be listed under Races/My Races.

Jen, so sorry for the injury. At least you now know what it is. And you can begin to address it, so there is the silver lining.

Well, at least you have a diagnosis and can get all healed. I had to google "Fluevogs". Interesting. BTW, how's E?

Good morning, all!

Welcome, Nancy!

Nice to see Yanti, Judi, Mon (the racers who suffered this weekend) and Chris, TJ and Kirsten are all here and accounted for as well, and the other manatees, too!

My century is this coming Saturday and I'm feeling pretty confident.   The weather forecast is Goldie Locks.

Time to soak in a nice ice bath.

Amazing, I simply cannot last more than an hour on the trainer. No idea how you did that

Morning Pod! Still sunny and hot in AZ with 50% humidity thrown in for "good measure" Yell Went for a <3mi run yesterday afternoon and thought I was going to slip in a pool of my own sweat and drown. Just nasty out!

DH and I went for a 67mi ride on Saturday morning. Lots of fun and I felt really energized. We're thinking of doing the 111mi Tour de Tucson in November. Looks scenic and really well supported.

We've been trying to plan our next Zion trip. Labor Day...too crowded. Next weekend...best friend's baby's 1st bday. Sept 22...next tri (woohoo!). So Sept 14 was our "go" weekend, until...got text from KS friend and he's bringing DHs new mtn bike. Sigh   Told DH to ask him if he wanted to go to Zion instead of our house. LOL

Welcome back everyone's (new) avis. Got a chuckle out of all the Yantiness, but I like seeing your lives too.

Hi, Nancy! Looks like you've already been prepped for the odd-ballity that is found in these many pages of chatter... ummmm, I mean serious business of tri training.Laughing

Hi Manatees!

My heart is breaking for Yanti - I wish we could all be there for her to give her hugs, love, and tie her down if needed to make sure she doesn't try to do anything Yanti-like.

As for my race - I had a great time on the swim, even if my sighting was shyte and I ended up swimming an extra 150m or so.  The bike was fun and I was pretty pleased with my 3:03:xx ride, including 4 stops for stupid mechanical stuff.  But with an hour or so left on the bike it was so hot that my water bottles were warping from the heat which was causing them to droop and rub on my back wheel.  By the time I got onto the run course it was over 100F and it was hot enough that shoe prints were being left in the tar in the pavement.  There was NO shade on the run, and it was on a country road in between 2 corn fields so there was also no wind.  It was like being trapped in a oven being slowly baked alive.

I think I made the smart choice and pulled the plug after the first loop of the run.  Could I have slogged through the second loop?  Yep.  Would it have been the smart choice?  No faching way.  There was no medical out there, people were weaving all over the place, there was a 30% DNF rate, and it was odd (and kind of eerie) to see almost EVERYONE walking.  All in all I'm really pleased with how the day went, and I'm happy that I stopped when I did.  This wasn't my 'A' race, and I'm fine with using this as just a long training day.  Goal #1 (no deathiness) held true and I'm good with that!

The ironic thing of this is that if I HAD slogged through I most likely would have won my AG.  About 10 minutes up on the closest woman from the swim and 3 minutes up on the closest person on the bike.  Oh well, maybe next year...  IF they move the day of the race!!

Sounds like you made the right decision. Nice long training day! No reason to risk injury on a non-priority race

Welcome Nancy!

I'm Adrienne. I think other bio stuff is in the beginning of the thread but feel free to ask anything that is not covered.

It sounds as though it was a rough race weekend all around, eh? Even my teammates struggled here locally in the PacNW HM championship. Long story but my training partner DNFed and helped another teammate who was crying on the curb (who also DNFed) Yowza!

But the good news? I find you can learn a heck of a lot more from these sh*tty races than you can from the good ones.

Onward!!!

Also, Judi, do you have some specific questions in regard to how a HM plays into a marathon plan? If I haven't covered something or have left you confused, I apologize and please let me clarify!!

NEED SUGGESTIONS!!!!!

Two triathletes (who shall be nameless because I don't know if this is secret or not) plan on tying the knot this weekend when they are out of town for a race.   I would like to send a "fun" tri gift with the Matron of Honor to give them, so it needs to be something carryable.   What does one get (not expensive so please do not suggest his/her disc wheels) for two triathletes who are sneaking a private wedding in before a race? Thinking $50 or less.  Bodyglide is already on the list but I need to add to it!!!

I know my manatees can be creative!!  BRING IT!!!
