We never lost power.  We had about four inches of snow and then sleet and then freezing rain.  It stopped for a while and now we are back to snow.  Total gridlock yesterday afternoon.  Hundreds of abandoned cars along the road which has not helped the situation any.

This is my favorite picture that I saw on the news yesterday.  Epic!  Chaos, abandoned cars, snow, fire...  Oh, that's a four lane divided highway (US70) near the airport.

Just starting here, although the bloody pool is closed.  I get a bit non-plussed when they close BEFORE it even starts really snowing (it's the town center, so closes when the town offices close - although this time they did so before hand).  This is New England, for goodness' sake.  They announced LAST NIGHT that they would delay opening the pool until 0900, which would ensure no one would get a workout in before the real snow started and they could close without coming in at all…  Schools closing?  Sure - it's going to be grim by the time the kids would come home. But the pool?  Why not go to work while you can?  You can close well before it gets bad.  ARGH!   People are getting soft (wow, I sound like a geezer!).

OMG!  Southerners must have taken over!

This is exactly what it looked like driving through NC during the summer years back, minus the snow. All the way to the Outer Banks there was literally a separate traffic jamming accident every hour along the way. And yes, at least one had a flaming car.

You are just jealous because your snow will be melted by the weekend.

More like next weekend. Only reaching 30 today and back down to 20 for a few. Then it starts warming up. A lot of places have several feet piled up, so even then it won't be entirely gone. I think quite a few people will be happy just to have clear roads again though. Sidewalks will be spotty as a lot will melt and refreeze overnight on them.

The car fire was something. The heat could still be easily felt several lanes away in a closed up vehicle.

We actually have more racers than DL'rs. That hasn't happened in a while, cool stuff. Gooooo everyone!!! Janyne, when are you heading over? Whenever it is, drive careful, I've seen pictures of the roads by you in the winter and it can be a flaming mess

I hope those that aren't feeling well begin to heal up and those that are cold begin to warm up.

WOW!  Look at all the racers!  That makes me happy   Plus it looks like there is a possible manatee meet up in Arizona - hope you guys can make that happen. All the races look great, but I think Jen's looks the best!

You can take me off the disabled list as I am feeling much better today!

Well... Jen and Tom are off the DL because they are racing this weekend.  Or at least that was the plan.

We're heading out around 10:00.  Em is at the pet sitters and the car is packed.  Road are clear but we have a black ice warning this morning. It's just under three hours from Raleigh to Myrtle Beach.

Happy Valentine's Day!
