Jantastic Information
Remember to log those runs!
Go to http://www.jantastic.me/and use the Log Runs button after logging into the site. Remember to log the distance of your long run this month!
All runs for the previous week must be logged by 08:00 (GMT) on Tuesday of the following week. That's 3:00am New York time on Tuesday (2am Chicago time, 1am Denver time, midnight Seatle time, 4pm Perth time, etc.). Most folks should plan to log their Jantastic runs on Monday. (Note, do not log the following February Week 2 runs until Week 1 closes.)
May all of you be feeling strong and focused!

WOW!  Look at all the racers!  That makes me happy   Plus it looks like there is a possible manatee meet up in Arizona - hope you guys can make that happen. All the races look great, but I think Jen's looks the best!

You can take me off the disabled list as I am feeling much better today!

Great news!

We never lost power.  We had about four inches of snow and then sleet and then freezing rain.  It stopped for a while and now we are back to snow.  Total gridlock yesterday afternoon.  Hundreds of abandoned cars along the road which has not helped the situation any.

This is my favorite picture that I saw on the news yesterday.  Epic!  Chaos, abandoned cars, snow, fire...  Oh, that's a four lane divided highway (US70) near the airport.

car fire raleigh

There is something very fascinating about that picture, perhaps the combination of fire and ice and of course the chaos.  Wow!  Glad to hear you are OK and the snow-affected manatees all seem to be OK overall.

LOVING this big race listing for the weekend!  Although it is mostly our warm climate manatees racing, it still gives me hope that warmer/nicer weather is surely around the corner!

GOOOOO MANATEES!!!  Have fun and do what you do best!  Good luck to all!

We had enough snow that we used the snowblower to make a 'dog track' around the house.  Coco (the one in the red jacket) was LOVING it!  In the pic they are just walking but after she realized it went the whole way around the house with an offshoot out into the field she was running full tilt.  The snow was deeper than Dobie, the one in the green jacket. Round one gave us about a foot, then we had sleet, then more snow, then rain.  After a small break, we got about another 4-5" of wet snow.  More is due tonight, although they downgraded it to only 1-3".

Mel,

Looks like the dogs are enjoying your hard work!  Nice to give them room to play in that mess---as well as a place to do their business!

One cold weather 'racer' here. I have trouble using that term when referring to my swim.
I swim the 100m, 200m and 800m tomorrow. Long course meters. Gulp!

Happy Valentines Day Manatees!  It's a day to celebrate love in all its forms.  I have been struck recently by a couple things: one is that I don't say the words often enough to those I love.  My brother going through emergency surgery made that super clear.  But the other thing is that sometimes I think we don't understand how much just a kind, loving word can mean to someone.  We never really know what is going on with someone; they can be desperately struggling and a simple kind word can give them the strength to hang on for one more day.

So, that being said, although I have never met most of you, I am so grateful that you are all in my life, and I love you all.  And I have a request: I have a student who IS desperately struggling and she could use a whole lotta thoughts and prayers.  Thanks in advance.

I'm a tad ticked right now... I went to go order some new Canadian Olympics gear from the ONLY place that's selling it (Hudson's Bay Co.) and they're only shipping to locations within Canada!  Don't they realize there are Canadians living around the world that might want to be able to purchase some Canada gear???   Sigh, fine.  I guess I'll just keep wearing my stuff from the 2010 Olympics as I am right now.

On a side note, the people in the office are LOVING me today.

Done.

And what you wrote above is so true, about a simple kind word or action can totally turn someone's day around for the better.  I try (emphasis on try, I'm not perfect) to take a gentle approach with people because as you said, we never know what is going on in their personal lives or their head.  To quote Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, "Be excellent to each other".  Plus I agree whole-heartedly; this is a very special group of people, the manatees.  Thanks.

Thanks for the reminder. I am very guilty of not telling the people I care about how I feel often enough, though hopefully my actions tell them.

this group is a special ( read that however you want ) group and I love being part of the madness! Sorry your student is having such a rough time and will keep her in my thoughts.
