Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Originally posted by JBacarella It has been a rough week. My wife had her surgery on Monday at Cleveland Clinic. The surgery was very painful and recovery won't be easy, but not nearly what she went through in November and December after the first surgery. On Wednesday, I had what was honestly the worst ride of my life. I was using one of their spin bikes, when my oldest texted that she was having an issue with one of her law school applications and was upset, Not an emergency, just a couple of texts to calm her down, then try to figure out a solution. Then my wife called to tell me that daughter #2 had a hairdryer explode and she was on her way to the ER. She ended up with a 2nd degree burn on her finger. As soon as I got off the phone with her, my Mom's Hospice nurse called and she informed me that my mother was actively dying. My brother came up to be with my Mom. I was upset, because I was so far away, and my wife needed me (although she told me to go). I did get a second opinion from her Dad and he felt I should stay. He could not come to Cleveland to be with my wife, because my mother in law is still recovering from her illness. My wife was discharged on Thursday and we started the normally 5 1/2 hour drive, it took over 7 hours, because of the weather. I drove directly to the nursing home and stayed with my Mom from Thursday night until Saturday morning when she passed. My older daughters came home from college, to say goodbye to my Mom. It was nice to spend the extended time with them and my Mother and his wife. The good out of this is: -For the first time in 15 years, my wife is disease free! -My Mom is free from her Alzheimer's prison. One super cool thing is my oldest daughter won the Humanitarian of the Year from Michigan State University for her work with the refugees in the Moria Refugee Camp in Greece. Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about your nogoodverybad Wednesday. {{hugs}} |

Jim, so sorry to hear there were so many things stacked up so close. I'm really glad for you that there were some positives in the mix and that you're even able to appreciate them in the midst of the turmoil. Good and bad - they both take it out of you, in different ways. Hope you're back on steady ground soon. Matt |

That must've been a horrible day/week for you. At least, as you said, your Mom does not have to suffer, and you got a chance to spend the last moments with her. I hope you are coping well... I am very glad and happy for your wife getting better, and your daughters making such an excellent educational progress (congrats on the award!) |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed So, sort of like Sean's DL status - i am over here 38 weeks pregnant tomorrow with two more work days left. Somehow i think my recovery will be a bit longer, though . Due date is two weeks from now and i am definitely feeling it. My feet are swollen and i have to pee all the time. But other than that i am doing well. I am fortunate, i do get year off and at this time of year I am looking forward to having May and June to be out strolling with the new baby ... but not just yet. I need some good training and race details so i can live vicariously through you all! Keep 'em coming, everyone! |

Sorry for your discomfort, but the payoff will be worth it! 1 year off - heaven (especially if I could have it just because I want it and not have to give birth first ) |
