This is the 1st 2016 race I'm registered for and I'm very excited about it! Just wanted to share the with the group. If anyone's done this race before I'd love to get some feedback. This will be my 2nd HIM. My 1st was Austin in 2015. It took me 5:28 which I'm hoping to beat! It seems like maybe McMatt or Jonathan have done that one but I don't see it in their race logs. |

In keeping with the tradition of once a manatee always a manatee I will post my bio here to make it official . Better late than never NAME: Jonathan STORY: I was very overweight / obese a few years ago and always made excuses about my health. Finally I got into gear lost over 60 pounds and completed my first spirit Triathlon in Sept of 2012. Since then I've completed several springs, 4 x 70.3s, 1 olympic, and 1 full ironman. I love the sport and really enjoy giving back to the community. I am also the President of our local Triathlon club and the Race Director for the local Sprint Triathlon that our club puts on. I joined the manatees back in 2012 when I was training for my first sprint try. This group was extremely helpful in teaching me how to swim. I actually took videos of myself and uploaded them here for Yanti and a few others to analyze and provide feedback. I could barely make it to the end of the pool and now I swim 3k+ swim sets at sub 1:40 pace so thru the encouragement of this group I have come a long way! FAMILY STATUS: Married with 3 kids CURRENT TRAINING: Currently I'm training aprox 10 hours per week in preparation for Galveston 70.3 and then that training will nearly double as I begin to prepare for Boulder 140.6 THIS YEAR'S RACES/EVENTS: If any have been chosen or are on the possibilities list. GOALS/OBJECTIVES/DESIRES: I hope to become a faster and better balanced Triathlete this season. WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD MANATEE: I hope to encourage others as I was encouraged as a newbie to the sport. I also get encouragement from all you guys Welcome back, Jonathan! I did IM Boulder last year. I live about 30 minutes from Boulder Rez and trained on the course all last year. Let me know if you have any questions about the course. I'm pretty jealous that you're doing this race! |

I can't tell you the last time I've had a planning period so all the work I usually do at school I'm doing at home after training. I just signed up for the 106° West Half Iron Distance tri in Dillon, CO. The swim starts at Lake Dillon, which is at around 9,000 feet in elevation. The bike climbs to 10,300 feet, making this the highest tri in the world. Swag includes a cowboy hat and the finishers get a belt buckle instead of a medal. What the heck was I thinking? |

Hoping the southern manatees aren't anywhere near the tornados. Stay safe, all. We had some bad stuff about 25 miles from us. A co-worker lost a pool cage and his neighborhood looks Charley-esque. I hope the NC and Virginia folks are ok, I've heard of some bad there as well. |

I did see some pretty impressive hail, and the water level got alarmingly close to the back door. Vivaldi was less than thrilled about having to use the puppy pads for the night, but other than that all okay here! NC/VA Podmates - PLEASE CHECK IN!! |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - ClosedThanks for checking in, Laura and Chris. I'm glad to hear you were spared. The nasty weather made it to PA, too. We had very high winds, flooding, and a tornado touched down in the eastern part of the county I live in (I'm toward the west), but we must've had wind sheers or something randomly strike nearby. There were numerous trees, big and small, ripped over. Some roads were closed this am because of damage and flooding. Also, the fascia is hanging off the front of neighbor's house. We had smaller to medium branches down in my yard and we of course have mini streams of water in the basement. The sump pump is running every few minutes. We also lost power for a few hours overnight, but all in all we're good. |

Master 10208![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Northern IL | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - ClosedWinds were strong, but nothing to really worry about up here. There was some icy snow falling in the afternoon & evening though. Not much by me, but down at the city and south of it may have had a good amount. Think a number of schools may have called a snow day last night. |
