Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Speaking of races... I saw last night on FB that a local 50k is giving local beautiful Native American pottery as the finishers award. I was soooooo tempted to sign up. But it's 6 weeks after my 50k and I looked at it when I was trying to decide on an ultra and opted for Moab. Justsaynojustsaynojustsayno... |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Originally posted by IronOx POL post. Work has been crazy, hopefully will settle down now as second year students go out on practicums. But then I had a site back out last minute so have to find four new placements by Monday so we'll see about that. Also dealing with some depression/SAD/mid-life crisis BS. Could be partly hormonal as it seems very cyclical. Which I am too young for dammit!! Whatever it is, it is putting a strain on my relationship (from my side, SO is being very understanding). We have a weekend away booked so hopefully that will be helpful to everything! Go racey racers and heal up DLers. Has anyone heard from/about Steve? {{Hugs}} for you and your SO. |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed They are six hours ahead of here. Up now in Saigon--I can start tracking. Have a bit of trainer to do so maybe can watch the race live for a bit. (Short bike and long run--getting up EARLY for that in this heat!) |

Expert 2122 Next to a big lake | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Proof of life posting. I promise I have been good. Is there a way to upload training from Map My Fitness? All is going well, still need to figure out my race schedule for this summer. I have a full Marathon in June and a beer run in a couple weeks, That won't be enough to get me through the season. Need to see what the tax gods and wife have plans for. Go Manatees Go! |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Yanti's halfway through the bike now! Will try to track her till the finish! (And I am done with my workout. Wee bit epic, that one. But then I don't do full IM, so I'm a wimp! Just a 45-minute trainer ride followed by a 2-hour run with a bunch of tempo stuff. I will get off the floor sometime, probably when I get too hungry! Edited by Hot Runner 2016-03-04 8:25 PM |

Had issues with her knees swelling and was unable to bend them to keep peddling. She is all good though. Just had to share this beauty ... I'm doing great, muscles and energy levels are fine (not-minor miracles of themselves) but the pain's at DEFCON 1 despite the med-tent (why do all my races end there?!) and now at-home treatments. Even the skin was brutally painful stretching on each stroke. YOW. (030.Knee3.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 030.Knee3.jpg (50KB - 2 downloads) |

I saw you on the participant list very excited to come do the race and see you again. You can get codeine otc here in NZ too. It's taking the edge off and kind of making me not care about the pain but it's still pretty bad. NZ is awesome, if I wanted to go to an ER now all my costs would be covered and I bet they'd give me the really good stuff but I don't really need to go and I don't really need anything that strong, either. It's just going to take time ... and distraction through major posting |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Post away! I am keeping Tomoko company on the couch and trying to recover from my long run. Could use a little codeine (or at least ibuprofen) myself! Need a revenge race at IM Vietnam--that run was awful, as was having to go up on the podium with Caroline Steffen for a "run bonus" for the slowest HM of my life (I think you were there for that moment of humiliation). I can't get sick for the same race two years in a row, can I...? (Wait, actually I have, for Singapore Aquathlon. And then Laguna Lang Co and Vietnam 70.3, which weren't exactly the same race but both long races just after our spring break and in Vietnam.) Hoping I am not hexed this time. I swear I am going to go to work in a bubble during taper or something. Have already decided that if I am sick I will just DNF after the swim or bike. Not going to go through that death march again. This has been one of those peak training weeks and I am feeling pretty wasted. Just one more epic workout to go before a recovery week. Couldn't even make it to 8:30 PM yesterday. About to go take a nap. No idea how people train for full Ironman. (Maybe I should use your approach--I could envision DOING an IM, maybe, if I took my time, but not TRAINING for one. I'm really, really good at staying in Z1 and low Z2, and starting slowly enough. But just have zero interest in training for that distance. Swim, maybe. But a 3+ hour run here? And the idea of a 7-hour trainer ride (or 7 hours in the industrial park) leads to suicidal thoughts (or homicidal ones toward my bike). |
