Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.4 CLOSED (or Poptart/pet pic ticket) Originally posted by Jet Black Well, some beach. I was carrying my 3 year old out of the store last night and rolled my ankle in the parking lot on an uneven surface I didn't see. Luckily I didn't fall or drop him. I'm going to be fine for my race in a couple of weeks, but won't be able to run for a few days. This was supposed to be my last big week of training but now I'm going to possibly miss over half my run mileage for the week, ugh. Sorry Sean, but I'm glad it wasn't worse (and that your son is ok!). |

I guess it's a good thing I didn't quit my job yet How dare he! STOP! THIEF! |

Glad that we didn't have to put your 3yo on the DL! There's always deep water running. Yeah, I went there. |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.4 CLOSED (or Poptart/pet pic ticket) I was thinking about one of Janyne's posts the other day and I figured this might help some of the newer members of the group: Name: cdban66/Chris/DubSix STORY: I had been somewhat athletic in High School, playing soccer, beach volleyball and basketball, but that was a long time ago. Marriage, two children, business ownership, and the general busyness of life just got in the way. A number of years back I began going to the gym, lifting weights and such. Then, in late July, 2010, we had a family weight loss challenge. In order to lose, I began running. My youngest daughter suggested we run a race at Walt Disney World, so I began to prep for that and my older sister joined in as well. Before that race had happened, I began looking for more challenge/diversity, since I was enjoying the training. I had a friend who had been in tri’s a while back, he gave me his old bike and it grew from there. Now I try to race a few times a year and am beginning to push myself from "participant" to "racer". I'd like to see improvements this season and have put a few small things in place to do so. STATUS: I am a 6’3”, 49 yr old male and I've been married for over 29 years. I have 2 girls, ages 25 and 27. My wife, Ann or TW (THE Wife, THE Wonder or THE Woman), is the most wonderful person anyone could have in their life and has been very supportive of this addition to my lifestyle. If you don't have a wife, get one like her. Not this one, she's taken! CURRENT TRAINING: My primary focus is biking and running so I have begun to add more intensity. I enjoy riding with my LBS group and am looking for the same in running. I am slowly finding better focus for swim training after a month of somewhat helpful lessons. (This is the part where Janyne rolls her eyes and yells at me, mutters something about masters, and mentions that I am a broken record.) LAST YEAR: I am limited in my racing, or should I say participating, by choice. I have been seeing improvements from year to year and advances in my overall endurance fitness. This past year included an HM, a few sprint tri's, a few 5k's and other stuff that I have forgotten about. GOALS: I am currently planning on the OHMON in November, a HM in February, then a few summer sprints in 2016. Also, there are 2 non race trips with TW in the mix that will hopefully involve some hiking and/or running. BODY COMP: As I mentioned above, this all started as part of a family weight loss challenge. I started at 240 lbs. At my lowest I had reached 207. Currently I am about 215, with a goal weight of 210+/- for race season. WHAT MAKES ME A GOOD MANATEE: I am not the fastest, but I am supportive, upbeat, and I do want to improve. I have built a single speed/fixie bike and a MTB, which have helped me on the mechanical side. I read logs for info and motivation, post a bit and you will likely receive an "Inspire" or 2 from me every now and again. I enjoy all different views and ideas, as I think that nearly everything you do can help in some way. |

Champion 10550 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.4 CLOSED (or Poptart/pet pic ticket) Geez, you go on vacation and all kinds of shenanigans happen in the pod! New pod-mates, talks of culling the pod, Salty's latest awesome adventures, races, coaches, Window/Widows/Black Windows, and so much more! Chris - food for long distance rides, I'm usually good with mixing up Gu (salted caramel - yum!), Shot Bloks, uncrustables & for a treat, I buy a BIG bag at Halloween of the mini PayDay bars and will put those in a ziplock to take with me. SO GOOD! FYI - this whole "back to reality" thing after being on vacation sucks. I need to win the lottery so that I can call into work "rich" |

A bit unfortunate but a few days of rest is never a bad thing when you have been working so hard. Just glad to hear it wasn't worse. I'd also take the first few runs back cautiously so as to not aggrevate anything. |
