If that helps at all. |

Nobody cared. Nobody's watching you. If it makes you feel better to wear a towel, go ahead, but believe me, everybody is so focused on their own race you could probably do the hula naked in there and no one would notice. The volunteers are so focused on doing their jobs and getting everyone in and out of there quickly with all their gear with them or back in the bag. The spectators are so busy looking for "their" participant/s and cheering people on that they're not looking in the tent either (although most IMs they can't see in). A lot of the European IMs don't even have separate M/F change tents. Now we know the whole story... Are you saying that Yanti's transition time may have been affected? :D |

To some extent, the title always sounds more complicated. We show that carvedilol, a beta blocker, changes what genes are expressed (turned on or turned off) in the heart of rats that have pulmonary hypertension. It's mostly my work, so I'm the first author. Really awesome to have a first-author paper published. It's my second. I'm thrilled. |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Tomorrow will hopefully be a fun/happy conclusion to a busy/stressful week...I am very much looking forward to the Mud Run; I'll be "running" it with a bunch of friends from my OCR/running team, the Norcal Weeple Army---we have way too much fun racing partying out there. Also, a friend from work (2 actually, but one is a former coworker) got in touch with me due to the fact that they can no longer keep their Tegu...so as of tomorrow we will have a second fairly large lizard...As a result of the upcoming tegu-ness, I had to get my Box Turtle and Russian Tortoise moved out to their outside homes...I just had to build them first...I finished box turtle's last night and tortoise's tonight. They will be quite happy outside I think. So yeah...racing, then some home clean up, then we acquire Apollo the Tegu. |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Oh, and in other news...Dad went home yesterday, he is tired, but doing all right, all things considered. In two weeks he goes back in to have them clear out one of his legs (with an angio-whatever...). Of course, my mom is starting to wear around the edges a bit...my dad can be a bit stressful to be around when he is tired or in pain (he always is/was, even before his heart issues!), and she is now asking friends and family to come visit so that she can have some alone/errand/garden time. I will probably go over and chat for a bit on Sunday... |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I couldn't sleep last night, so I got up at 3:00 a.m. and ordered a wetsuit. Ack!!! Not exactly like signing up for an Ironman or an Ultra, but for me, almost as big of a deal. The lake temperature for my tri on May 19 was 48 degrees when I checked yesterday. That's down 7 degrees since the last time I checked about 10 days ago. My idea of gutting it out in the cold was a stupid one, I decided. |

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Ok, super behind, but hope any racers that raced today had a great time (dual meaning ) and those racing tomorrow have the same! Hugs to Yanti, Kate and Erin--I hope I haven't missed anyone who is hurting. Well, here, lemme fix that. Hugs for all the Manatees I commuted on my bike on Thursday and Friday. About 45km round trip. I was surprised that my ride home on Friday was the fastest of the 4 rides (to and fro 2 days). Especially since we went out for all you can eat sushi for lunch at about 2pm. I rode at 4:30! I'm looking at it as training for the brewery ride in May... |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I have a cycling question that I will double post, so some of you may see it twice. Re: Hills Descending: I think I understand that I should lean my center of gravity forward a bit, crouching over the aerobars. I am not sure, however, where my legs should be -- one straight and the other up? Both in the mid position? Should I attempt to pedal on fast/steep downhills? Climbing: I'm not sure where my center of gravity should be, over the front wheel or more over the center of the bike/over the pedals, for more power. Is it better when climbing to be on the horns? or still on the aerobars? I also assume, perhaps incorrectly, that I should try to climb as far as I can while seated, and just stand, if I need to, to power over the top. |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED Hope all the racers had a great weekend! We debated going down to Big Sur this morning on our way back to AZ. DH checked the course/ roads and it wasn't conducive for a 12-hr drive afterwards My nearly 70yo uncle did the 5k. I would've loved to do it with him... and done some Manatee cheering, too!Had a really nice weekend. Spent needed time with family on Thursday/Friday. Late afternoon met with two of my good friends to practice songs for church. Yesterday was packed with church, class reunion lunch/ meeting/ pics, then a bonfire at the beach just like " the old days"... except we were chasing kids around between catching up with old friends. I have to give props to DH for his patience on this trip. |
