Master 10208 Northern IL | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Originally posted by CRFTX2001 Congratulations racers for your hard work this weekend. Happy Birthday Monica and Randee! I've been gone for more than a week, so let me catch you up. After the race, my family went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate my sister's birthday. The next morning, I had a terrible stomach ache. Normally that will happen the night of the adventure, but this lasted until Wednesday coughing all along the way. Because of this, I wasn't able to do any kind of exercise, which makes me antsy and a little bit more prone to cramping up out of nowhere. It happened something like 10 times this week. Anyway, I went out for an easy bike ride today to test where I was at and see if I was in the clear to start some sort of exercise routine. I can tell you that I am NOT ready. I started coughing intensely every time I put in some sort of effort harder than a leisurely pedal. Oh well, another few days of lying on my butt all day, but at least the stomach ache is gone and all I have to worry about is this stupid respiratory thing. Other than being sick, I did have a fun spring break and I'm hopeful that my life will return to normal soon. P.S. Sorry about all of the complaining lately. Not being to do what I want to do sometimes gets me in a bad mood, and that's when I feel compelled to post. Hang in there man. Hard to do nothing at times, but in this case that is one of the best ways to be doing something. Too often think some people try to salvage something and end up prolonging the problem. |

Disabled List Hope all our racers and birthday people had a great weekend! Glad to see that our DL list is shrinking as well. I hopped on the trainer Sunday, and did some sprints to see how my current weight lifting routine affected my peak power. I hit 1kW a couple of times, which I've hit before, but I also broke 1,100W, which is a personal best. Edited by msteiner 2016-03-21 9:13 AM |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Connor - Hope you get over that nasty respiratory bug soon, it's good to hear your stomach is better. Take care. All - I've been watching 11.22.63 (I'm only through episode 2) and I've read the book, and it's funny how I forgot little things/scenes. Congrats to all the racing manatees, can't wait to read the reports! I had a very fun day and a half in our nation's capital Fri/Sat. A few friends from my hockey team and I got tickets to the Capitals game Friday, then spent time sightseeing the monuments and memorials and flowering trees on Saturday before returning home. It's still a little early for the cherry blossoms, only a few trees are already blooming but considering I've never been there for the Cherry Blossom Festival or the big bloom, the few trees were still a treat. I heard it turns into a mad house during the Festival. The magnolias were spectacular, too. |

Did you read the book? Originally posted by Richardsdrr Just finished HO Cards yesterday. Much better this season compared to last. Haven't got into flash or daredevil, but have daredevil lined up on netflix. Can't get jet (sorry, can't remember what it was called) but I've watched the UK version made by the same people (The thick of it. Look it up if you want a taste of UK politics with the same humour as veep). Other stuff I've been watching, Jessica Jones, Better call Saul and I've just started watched how to get away with murder. Not too sure of that one yet. Anything else any of you can recommend.? On Hulu rather than Netflix, but I'm really enjoying 11.22.63 (go back in time and prevent JFK's assassination, based on Steven King's book) Really good stuff! I actually prefer Daredevil to Jessica Jones! Loved the book. I haven't read the book, but I may after the show is over. I don't want to start in the middle of watching. Also...binged watched the entire second seasons of Daredevil over the weekend. And: Halt and Catch Fire season 2 is on Netflix now, and if you like computers and knew anyone alive in the 80s you should watch it. Love it and I'm really excited for the second season. And one more: Turn:Washington's Spies Season 2 is coming to Netflix in another couple weeks. I liked the first season a lot and am looking forward to that. Basically all the really good tv is coming out just when the weather is getting nice. Clearly the person in charge of releasing this stuff doesn't realize we use it for training fodder! |

His name is Caesar but answers to Little Buddy or GusGus as well. Did I mention I don't get to swim until Friday because Caesar bit me yesterday in the arm while I was trying to save him from DH's niece? Did you know cat bites get infected within about 3-4 hours? Tetanus shots stink as well. sigh (I'm not really giving Little Buddy away. Who else would wash the our dog Jack's ears?) |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Oh poor you! Don't take it personally though--it was displaced aggression/self-defense intended for the kid! I've been scratched and ended up needing antibiotics more times than I can count--some of my rescue felines have been less socialized at intake than others. One of the worst offenders was actually my normally placid purebred Angora--I had to rescue her from a confrontation with a much bigger male (she has a lot more beauty than brains) and she tried to bite my finger off. I left the next day for New Zealand and had to deal with the resulting infection and meds while traveling. Ugh! Wash scratches and bites right away and use topical antibiotics; even then, they tend to puncture pretty deep and get infected. Would love to see a cat that's a "skinny 20 pounds". How long/tall?! My Smudgee is 15-16 and isn't exactly svelte, but he's not really fat, just BIG. He is a full meter long when he stretches out and as tall as my knees--people are always telling me I have Vietnam's biggest cat, but his brother Percy (who's since moved on to Dubai with former colleagues) is even bigger! Then there's little six-pound Tomoko--every time we go to the vet's I have to remind them that she's a full-grown cat, not a kitten. I've raised both from babyhood, on the same foods--pretty strong proof that size/weight is mostly genetic! Edited by Hot Runner 2016-03-22 7:04 AM |

One of them got punctured by a tooth of another last week when they were playing. It started to swell and show signs of infection within a couple of hours. Started spraying it with Coloidal Silver about 4 times a day and in less than 36 hours later it was totally healed. |

Member 285 Cypress, Texas | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Closed Barely avoided the DL list, thanks to my Airrosti doc. First I pulled something in my shoulder, which he fixed in two visits and then I pulled something in my glutes, which tightened my IT band causing knee pain. He worked on that yesterday and I'm almost back to normal. Another treatment on Thursday and then I have a short race on Saturday. Have been laying low since Wednesday. Apparently I have weak glutes, so will have to work on that. Maybe that will help with my run speed going forward as well. |

On a note about colloidal silver. Please never take it internally. People do. It is toxic, which is why it kills bacteria in wounds. Don't get it in deep wounds either. |

As the owner of the world's meanest cat ( flufy with one f, at times I wished we had no f in flufy). I'm surprised too. We have all had an undeserved flufy bite without an issue. We did do immediate wound care, washing and antibiotic, because she went through a period in which she was semi-feral. Her worst trick is to bite you in the butt when you are bent over taking laundry out of the dryer. |

My wife and I both had bad work weeks last week and opted to just get away to reboot, on a whim. We had a great time, and I did get some training in, including pool time. I had to stop when a bunch of kids got in the pool and I became the weird old man swimming laps in the pool while they were trying to play. |
