Pre-race routine:

no routine...just tried to stay warm!
Event warmup:

very short jog
Run
  • 1h 47m 15s
  • 10 miles
  • 10m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Not my best run! :( I had a goal of 1:35, but missed it by 12 minutes. I had a side stitch mile 1-5, and both calves started cramping at mile 4. However, with the conditions, I think I did ok.
What would you do differently?:

carry water for after the gels - there were aid stations, but not where I needed them.

Post race
Warm down:

walk to car, change clothes - stripped down to my bra in the parking lot. Put on all dry stuff and walked back to the finish to cheer on my friend!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

snow!

Event comments:

It's always fun to "race" with people in your tri club...it was basically an organized training day! Very fun, but very cold and hard to stay warm after finishing!

Course: Loop course on dirt trails and roads in Boulder. It was SNOWING the entire time! The forecast (as of last night) said partly cloudy and mid 40s...WRONG...it was snowing and high 20s! The trails were completely snow covered - a light dusting, but enough to make it slippery.

Way to go!  In the cold and smow too!  You the Girl!  I missed you at chilly cheeks,  it was very cold on the bike today as it was snowing and windy.  NICE JOB!

So what if it wasn't your best run .  You gained valuable experience, plus YOU were out competing!!  THAT is something exciting in itself, IMHO.  Heck, many of us just sit on our arse's all winter...  NOT YOU.  You get after it CATHY, and inspire me and other BT'ers in the process

Congrats on completing the race.
What matters is finishing. The rest is embellishment.

Congratulations! Not too shabby, especially for a race in those conditions.

I agree, just to be out there and running in conditions like that is a triumph in itself.  Great job!!

As Fromer said, don't be dissapointed with your time, especially considering the conditions.  The experience you gain from that will be invaluable.

Great job, Cathy! Most people (like me) were sitting on their arses inside during that kind of weather.

You are an animal!  I was sitting on my arse (at least it was on the trainer while I did that!)

Great job!
