Luke McKenzie.

People are most likely to vote for someone they've had personal interaction with, and I am no exception.

Even before he won Ironman Japan, when and his girlfriend (pro triathlete Amanda Balding) really didn't have any money of their own, they arranged for their sponsors to donate goods and money to triathletes-in-training in Indonesia who couldn't afford tri gear or training programs. They personally wound up bringing a lot of the goods in their carry-on luggage to the Bali International Triathlon.

I had to write in Justin Daerr.  He actually was at one of my races and my wife and son were crossing the street and my son stepped in front of his bike.  Barely clipped him but my son ended up in the emergency room (no injuries luckily).  Justin did not wrecked but coasted a little way up the course and when his girlfriend got to him the first thing he asked was how my son was.  I ended up finding  out later who he was and emailed him to apologize.  All he cared about was that my son was okay and ended up sending him  a few promotional pictures.

Next would  probably be potts.  He seems pretty down to earth.

Crowie.

I like Potts and Macca, but Crowie is one hell of a competitor and seems to be just as much a real person, and likeable, as Potts and Macca.

Seeing his daughter run up to him after winning Kona was a plus, as I also have kids and seeing that makes "pros" more human to me.

Had to go with the Big Man (ThunderBear).  I sympathize with the guy pouring ice-water all over himself in Kona.  I have to go to similar lengths in races/training down here in Florida in the Summer.

Haven't met any of them so no allegiance to any of the big names.

Potts....

Swam with him during my USS days and love his attitude. Also a swimmer turned TRI guys so he's got the same background I have. Very posititive attitude regarding winning or losing as well as his approach to all distances.

Big guy (relatively) out-runs the "runners" in the Beijing heat for Olympic Gold.

Simon Whitfield!

It's great seeing him doing so well!  He swam in the distance group with me and the other 1500 freestylers at my Swim Club in Victoria before he was fast, and look at him now!

Also, quite possibly one of the most down to earth athletes I've ever met.  Especially after meeting SO many international level swimmers that were COMPLETE d-bags!

I was able to see Rutge Beke in Niederbronn for the 1/2 IRONMAN in may. I really appreciated his kind, gentle and open attitude. A lot of the other pros were distant, yet loud and a bit obnoxious, but Rutge was really nice and humble with everyone, adding a really good feel to the event and overall atmosphere. cheers mate!

Andy Potts is so consistent and just an all around great guy.  I have seen and heard several of his interviews and he is very down to earth and had a great year.  Kieran Doe's performance at IMAZ was nothing short of amazing and comes in a very close second.

Call him what you want but I have respect for someone that gets called for doping, gets cleared, deals with all the crap from it, and still competes at the Pro level.  Rutger Beke is the man.  I read the article I think from last year when he had his first IM Championship race since the doping issue and he said at one point in the race he asked a spectator how far behind he was, the answer, "I don't help cheaters".

Andy Potts... seems to have an abundance of natural talent, he is an All-American kind of guy (enough with the Australian domination - although my hat is off to them Aussies - oui! oui! oui!), and he seems very genuine, friendly, and his race habits (nutrition & hydration are very similar to my practices)... I just wish I could swim like him...
