Pre-race routine:

had my pb&j and mnt dew...seems to be my fav pre race breakfast. Decided to go with my badass look - braids and a bandana... was told It was more of a dumbass look- thanks! Drove down and waited for Dave who told me to be there at 6:30!
I wasnt really fired up for this race- usually before races I get so excited.

Event warmup:

are you kidding me?
Dave actually went and ran the kids race.. he fit in well.
I did stretch some though.

Comments:

this is only my 2cnd stand alone marathon... my first was 10 minths ago and I beat that time by 10 minutes. I REALLY wanted a 3:45... I knew that would be tough for me- but Iwanted to try. I figured I needed 2:24/lap for this.
I started out and felt really good. Every lap was 2:20-2:22.... I figured since i felt fine Id just go with it. This was workinging until about the halfway point when my calves really strted to get tight.... I autmatically slowed down about 10 sec per lap. Then I saw Dave and he was cmplaining that his hamstrings were ready to rip and then I saw our friend Kevin walking. I then felt a little better- at least they were feeling the same way. I think the absoulutely no change in terrain takes a toll on the muscles. I will never do a completely flat course again. the onlyother time my muscles got tight like that was at IM...and that is at least undewrstandable.
Thru the first half I was the 2cnd OA female.. I dropped down to 4th :(. The guy who won was flying.... he had 10 laps left and I had 10 miles.... not cool.
This really wasnt boring at all..... I mean you knew where you were thewhole time. you saw people you knew racing AND I had awesome support out there from Joe Runner and Clint, AJ and Firstnet911 were there- Travis and Sandi were there, Scotty was there, kim K was there (and she bought me a COKE when I was done- I heart her:)) thanks a ton guys!! I hit the lap button every lap- so that really broke the race down and they had a screen- kinda like Nascar- where tehy showed what place you were in and how many laps you had to go.
When I got close to the end I asked the guy how many laps I have left he says 5.. I weas like FIVE...WTH- I swore I had like 3. Next lap he says I have 2 left.... much better.
I was NOT thrilled with the music though. We were to email in our song requests- I dont think one song of mine was played...although who would even know because the music was so quiet.
What would you do differently?:

I dont know. I think I run my long runs too fast. Iknow I have the ability to run faster. there were even times when I just didnt give crap anymore- I dont know why I do this. I think I always worry that I will totally bonk- which I dont. I really just need to lay it all out there once.
I was glad to be under 4 hours... but I am just really not thrilled with this.
I wouldnt ditch my gloves either- my fingers were frozen by mile 20.
Post race
Warm down:

stretched a little...whined a little... the usual.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

who knows... Ill figure it out.
Id really like to run this pace at IM- so I got some running to do!!:)
Other people I talked to after were all close to ten minutes slower then they had hoped.

Event comments:

I think they really did a great job- I was impressed. The music thing needs work- other then that awesomeness.
I wish I would have stayed later I probaly would have gotten an AG award..... oh well

FIRST!!!

I think because you knew that Maggyruth and I weren't there to catch you and give you a leg massage at the end of the race is the reason you were "meh" about this race.  Wasn't it?

Didja snotrocket at all?

The pigtails and bandana look makes you look like a tough farm grrrl...oh, yeah, you are.

Way to toughen it up, Tammy!

The race sounds like a cool new experience. I've never done anything like that. I'll be that the lack in terrain change can really be tough on your muscles after so many mile. It sounds like you hung in strong though.

Great job Tammy!

Whining about 4th place AG?  Egads.  It is my current dream to do my Mary in under 4 hours.  I don't even care if it is one second less.  And you bested your Mary time by 10 minutes, simply amazing.  Keep on trucking.

Yep, great race!  Nice PR and each time it has to get easier (so, I have been told )

Sub 4 is awesome, but when you do sub 4 at IMWI..that is going to be Freakin' Fantastic.  I have a good feeling about that

nice going... round and round you went.. i'd like to get a sub 4 this year... im pretty surprised you didn't get your 3:45.. but then its winter.. this summer you will easily obliterate that time.. of course, if you allow enough healing time.. and a break..  Congrats!!

Great job out (in) there on Saturday.  Setting a PR indoors on a short track.  Sounds pretty impressive to me.  Now go take some time off so you're ready to tackle your Moo Moo training.

You kicked AZZ in a huge way.  Great job. I always feel like that "why I am doing this" feeling at least once during marathons or really anything long.  You did great.  I would KILL to do a 3:57 marathon.

Nice sub-4:00 and 4th place. You're a super stud!

Wait, this was 95 laps indoors? That's an abomination! At least it wasn't a treadmill marathon.
