Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Up early to eat and head into Richmond. Wander around the park for a while for costume photos and hunting down Jen and Kristen. Try to stay warm cause it's chilly from all the rain and these leotards don't cover much
Event warmup:

Stay warm...wander...Lots of comments about our costumes.
Walk over to the start line and ham it up dancing to the music to embarrass my daughter.
Run
  • 1h 01m 26s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I love this race! It is a huge party and maks the beginning of race season for me. It was even more fun in costume with Max :)
Mile 1 kind of slow 10:27
Mile 2 about 10:05
Mile 3 kept the 10:19 min miles going
Mile 4 started to pick it up still 10:01
Mile 5 Max got a cramp but I had my legs and went for it
Mile 6 Heard someone say they were at 55 min and I don't know if they were in my wave but I turned it on
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I went out to have fun and that's all I did.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around to find Max, Carrie, Jen. Walked over to the Village Cafe for a terrific breakfast.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I went out to have fun and did just that

Event comments:

You have to come to Richmond to experience the fun of this race. Our costumed running was a blast and made it all the more fun.

Overall: 0/35,000
Performance: Good
Course: For the first time I was surprised at getting to the turnaround. It seemed like we got to it fast. First mile was pretty congested, we lost Carrie somewhere between 1 1/2 and 2 miles.THat was a shame since she had a cowbell tied into her hair bands and we had ourown cowbell for that first bit! Max and I never ran together before. We kept a great pace together and the fun part was the unspoken way we split to go around slower people. He'd weave right and I'd weave left then we just fell back in together. We had so much fun waving to the crowd and shouting back.

Man I love this race - glad you and Max had fun, and thanks again to your sweet daughter...my monkeys loved her. Thankfully Sugar Daddy's itch to race is over so I can spend more time playing with you and Jen. See you again soon!

That video was the bestest!  Sounds like the BT group had a terrific time.  I need to come down and run it some time.  You and Max might even convince me to run in a tutu.

I suppose Max couldn't really taste the blueberries in the pancakes, huh...

[hijack] I'm old.  I can't even remember all the agreed upon conditions.  You'll have to remind me.  I'm getting better at using this camera phone. [/hijack]

I love the photos, Judi! You look adorable (and also like a fast and fierce runner, of course) and this race sounds so fun. And running with Max, yay!

Hahahaha...I'm pushing 61, so you youngsters can still do it.  Just remember, it's only embarrasing for a little while.

Nice job, Judi - great costumes! Looks like a lot of fun - sadly, if it's always the same weekend, it's the weekend before the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler (you should come do that one some time! ).

The costumes are great!!  Nice job with the time.  It is certainly hard to race the beginning with so many people!  Keep up the great work.
