Bear and I are so stoked about our little wager that wanted to extend our 'Ride Lots!' Challenge to the whole board!!!

Here's the deal:

1) Sign up here and post your mileage so far this month if you want to join.
2) Starting tomorrow, Sunday, you must ride 150 more miles before April ends...

-- If you think 150 miles in 3 weeks is no sweat, sign up for more!!!! Don't be a wimp! The            whole idea is that this should be a real challenge to you! (And if you're a real, absolute                beginner... you can sign up for a little less. But just a little bit less!)

3) Trainer miles DO NOT count! Get ya butt outside!
4) At the end of the month, post your miles ridden/goal miles.

Those who achieve their goal mileage will have their names and mileage for the month of April listed as "Studs o' the month" in the either Bear's signature, since he's gonna lose. Should extenuating circumstances occur and I happen to lose, they'll be posted in my signature...

So, sign up! Then get out there and RIDE LOTS!!!!

OK - I'm in 37 miles so far outside this month - I'll set my goal for 200 more by the end of the month..may be a little hard to do since we are supposed to get the snowstorm tonite and tomorrow but what the heck.

I`d really like to join, but the problem is I don`t have a bike computer yet. I did an hour ride (really easy) and calculated the distance at 20km. Could I use the time and convert into miles until I get a computer (probably next week)?

I think that another 150 miles (12 hours by the above conversion) would be a big challenge for the rest of the month, let me know if I can join up!

Hey, Von, I'm down with that! I see you're at 2:25 MTD, give us 12 more hours of honest effort this month and we'll consider you a STUD O'TM!

I'm at around 40ish so far for the month - count me in to do 160 so I can get my monthly total up to 200

Of course, now that I've said that there's going to be a blizzard tomorrow and I'll be relegated to the trainer....

Don't head out now Von. The extended challenge starts tomorrow.
Edit: just noticed Von's location. probably tomorrow there already.

Of course I just did a swim and a bike today and plan to run tomorrow, but what the heck, I'm in too. I just got a computer on my mtn. bike today. I'm at about 90 miles now so put me down for another 160 to make it 250 total for April.

  • Yep. It`s Sunday afternoon, and I just got back from an 1:25 ride. I WILL be a Stud of the month!

PS. I think this is a great idea, and a great way to keep those of us w/o training partners or other means of motivation honest. I hope that some from of this challenge can continue into the coming months and begin to invole all three disciplines. This is just a thought, but I know that I will not fail to earn the title which I rightly deserve!

Great Idea Kim and Bear! You just got me out riding today. (Well you and the 70° weather)

I'm at 18.4 so far this month. I'll have at least one ride to work by the end this month which is a 100 mi day. Put me down for 200!

Sounds like fun. I'm looking forward to seeing my name listed in the bears sig.

I'm at 75 so far this month. I'd sign up for more, but next week is running themed week and the week after that is recovery week, so sign me up for 150 more this month.

I would like to join in, too. It will help to keep me motivated to ride lots and lots which I desperately need. Cycling is the hardest for me and I really, really want to get better.

So far this month, I've done 76.5. I'm going to sign up for another 200 - that will really be a challenge for me, and I'm not sure I'll be able to do it (I know I could do 150).

Thanks for including everyone in your challenge.

I've been debating with myself all day. And yep, please count me in, too.

I don't have any miles yet this month (well, actually last 10 months or so! ). So my goal will be 150 miles.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

i'm in! 50+ miles so far, and i'll pledge to do at least 100 more.

one question - does it have to be training rides? or can riding to the pool and back count (if so, there's another 8 miles a week!). how about grocery runs? we're trying to be as car free as possible. and, can my husband participate? if so, does commuting by bike count?

great idea! thanks for starting it kim & john.

Autumn, as far as I'm concerned, miles be miles. Just have to be outside on a real bike, and you have to log 'em. Hubby is welcome to play, has he been introduced?

I'm at 82 miles so far this month, so put me down for 250 miles. One of those weeks is a rest week, so it looks like I'll have to really get in some time on the other two weeks. Mind you that is with the weather being nice. I think I've only ridden my bike in the rain once in the last year, and it was on my mountain bike. And if I haven't mentioned yet thank whatever president created Daylight savings. I can get in a full two hours after work now with NO PROBLEM!!! YEAH!!!

    Thanks for including everyone.

My gauntlet is not as big as Bear's, but challenging nonetheless.

"da plan" calls for 150miles, so I'll set the bar at 200.

Now, lets see if I can ride rise to the challenge.

Hey, I want some of this. I'm at 98 for the month. (62 since I joined BT, 36 prior). Put me down for another 200. Would do more but need to swim, swim, swim gasp, choke, whew. Now if the weather will cooperate.

Okay, I can't get a new bike and NOT do the ride lots challenge.Uh...my schedule calls for 180ish miles. HOWEVER. I have power cranks coming in the mail in a day or two. There will be a fairly decent drop in mileage while I learn to ride them on the trainer. Sooooo...if I actually get 180 that would be a miracle.So...27 on the month before today, and planning on actually trying to get the 180 in addition to all the power cranks miles!I am SOOO going to regret this...I hope my new bike is kind to me...

Ok, the owner of the brand-new (slightly slow) Dual is down for 180.

My friend is riding power cranks now, says it took him several rides before he could go thirty minutes straight, so good luck with that! Actually, he's doing well on them now, rode 20+ with us last Wednesday and was supposed to be riding some hills today.

Great idea, I'm in. I've got 37 miles so far this month and I'm scheduled for 10 more hours of training on the bike. A goal of 150 miles is just enough to keep me honest.

I'm looking forward to seeing my name in Bear's sig. No offense, Kim, but in the last year on BT I've learned 2 important things about bear: 1 - challenging him only gets him totally focussed and motivated and 2- I really, really, really don't want to see a picture of him in that pose. Really. I don't.
