Being new to biking I called my  Miss Misery.  My first month of biking or so she lived up to her name, and now misery just likes company.

No picture. But my Trek 1000 is named George Washington. Let my son and daughter name him. Still wondering if it was a mistake.

graceful_dave - 2009-05-24 11:27 AM I don't name my bikes. The get called by what they are For example, my Santa Cruz Chameleon single speed mountain bike gets called "The Santa Cruz" or "The Chameleon" or "The single speed."

X2.

I named my bike Damage (pic in profile) for two reasons: #1, when she arrived via UPS, her box was all sorts of damaged and I felt bad for her, Poor, poor damaged thing..but then it really stuck when #2, every time I went out on her after that, I came home with some sort of Damage - either bodily or otherwise on her...I used to fall a lot.

The BF named his Guru Sacrifice b/c of all the sacrifices he made (and contnues to make) because of this sport.

For about 8 months, we had a Specialized road bike in the house and I referred to her as the Mistress ~ the fork snapped on the Guru and the BF had to train for IMWI on something...so he bought a road bike.  Needless to say, we sold the Mistress and Sacrifice is very happy, now that it's just her & Damage.

My sister named my new TT bike "Bobcat" because when I was a kid I called red firetrucks bobcats for some reason. I'm going to change the name to a certain something else but only after I've acheived a certain ave mph on a 40k. I've only ridden it three times and here's a photo from tweaking the fit:

You mean like planets, continents, oceans, countries, cities, streets, boats, etc. Yeah, that's weird...

This is Jezebel.  Jezebel is dark, sinister, wicked and very fast.  She'd been looking for a good home since 2006, so being the kind soul that I am I decided to take her home with me in October of 2007.

Her specs:

I never did when I used to road race.  But I have since getting into tris.

Road bike is Sonia (from the Saunier Duvall days when Scott sponsored them).  Tri bike is Blackbird (named after the SR-71 stealth recon. aircraft as it was the fastest aircraft in existence - that we know of).

Do people give their bikes a name?
What's your bikes name and why did you give it that name?

People do. I do not. So, no.

I call mine Bella, because she's a very attractive Scott women's-specific road bike.  All the Scott women's models are called Contessa, like Contessa Plasma or Contessa Speedster or Contessa CR-1, to distinguish them from the guys' version of the same bike.  So I started referring to the bike as "la bella contessa," and now it's just Bella.
