Precite ~ to say the line of a movie mere seconds before the actual line is spoken by the actors.

I think that my preciting during Princess Bride might be annoying to my wife, but my 14 year old daughter thinks that it is funny.

Do you "precite" to any movies?  Caddy Shack, Airplane and Young Frankenstein are my favorites.

No, but I'm one with your wife on the "annoying" declaration. IMHO no one's mouth has to be open to watch a movie.

Cool

if we're going for definitions - what's a good term for those dolts who sing, out of tune, to songs and then use the wrong words?

This is one of the ways I rate a movie; if I can do this during movies I'm seeing for the first time then it's probably not a good movie.
As for doing it during movies I've already seen; not so much unless I am alone, or it's Rocky Horror.

Oh, that's a different game entirely - and a fun one But you pretty much have to be aware that you are going to be viewing a terrible movie and that everyone is going to try to guess what happens next in terms of plot, script, etc. A friend of mine occasionally hosts "Bad Movie Night" and we do just this (we generally choose something HORRIBLE, like "Alien V Predator"). Totally different than being obnoxious and "preciting". Unless it's Rocky Horror, and you're at the theatre, where you're supposed to say the lines along with the film (when prompted).

mrs gearboy and I do this whenever we watch bad TV or movies (at home - it's just rude at the theater).  Nice to know we have a fallback job of screenwriters, if the whole doctoring thing doesn't work out for us.

My favorite way to annoy the kids is to recite the lines to a song.  But do it in a way that they don't realize at first I am doing it.  Especially when the song is playing on the computer - for example:
Me: "Can you do me a favor?  I need a ride tomorrow."
Kid: "I guess.  Where do you need to go?"
Me: ".....Won't you me take me down? To Funkytown?"
Kid: "DAAAADDDDD!!!! STOP DOING THAT! IT'S SOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!"

My father does this. Still. I'll be 29 on Sunday. Apparently, he doesn't think it ever gets old. His favorite is "Naaa na na na. Na na na na, Can't Touch This (or "Me" or "It")" - as appropriate to the conversation.

Yeah, I do it.  But only if I'm watching alone.  Or if I'm watching with my wife and I want to annoy her--because I think it's funny and she gives me "that look".

Joe Dirt:  "It's a space peanut."
Super Troopers:  "Smother me with gravy, ya dirty old man!"
O Brother Where Art Thou:  "Gopher, Everett?"
Shooter:  "You shoot my dog, I bury you in the hills somewhere.  Tell the sheriff a couple months later.  He understands."

No.

I don't watch too many movies that I'd know well enough to "precite" and don't usually want to watch them with someone who can.
