Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great race fellas! It looks like the course is as tough as they come. I can't wait to hear about it. I'm blown away by Seth's sub 13 finish. The guy had a lot of work/family/sickness issues the last month of training. I believe he didn't bike at all for the last month of training. The guy didn't make excuses. He just paced smart and then refused to knuckle during the last few miles. Strong race. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey everyone! Thanks for the support. Having several ga folks racing was really helpful too. It was great to cheer and run/ride with Daniel (15step), Brett (rocketman), James from SF, Sean?, Ben (kstater39), some Dynamos, etc I think Paul Linck from ATC KQd and his brother had a great day. The course was challenging on all 3 sports and the temp variation also buggered me and alot of others up. Saw some real bad wrecks and my landlord here was an EMT with horror stories. I met my goal for the day but it was not my best times. My main issue was cramping in hammy and unrelenting side stitches. I blame myself, but managed to get it done. Congrats to my fellow finishers for a more difficult day than was advertised. Slayer will be baaaaack!Ps pm if you want more specific info or the rental guys info. |

I honestly think there is no comparison: IMCdA was more difficult. Factor in the mass start swim in 55deg water, similar elevation bike with literal walls you had to climb twice, and a out and back run, far hillier than Lou, I gotta say Idaho was a lot more intense. The only thing that Louisville beats it on is weather: I will take cool, dry temps any day over 100+ heat indexes. I'm out for CdA next year, plan on racing locally and doing Florida instead. Trust me, you will not regret doing CdA, just train properly for it (hills hills hills and lots of OWS) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey, a HUGE congratulations to all the Georgia CDA Ironmen! It was great to get back from a long training weekend and read about the success you all had. I have Lake Placid coming up in just a few weeks and am very much looking forward to being where you all are today. Again - congratulations! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() First off let me say thanks to everyone on here who watched and cheered for us on Sunday. CDA is easily the hardest course I have done (LP '04, Lou '07). There may be only ~5200' of climbing for the entire 112 miles on the bike, but it is concentrated in about a 30 mile stretch that will destroy your legs. The run course isn't that bad except for the MOUNTAIN at the turn around. Overall it is a great race and a gorgeous venue, the townsfolk were very supportive and thankful to have us in town spending our money. I highly recommend doing this race at some point in your triathlon career. Flying out of ATL it was relatively easy to get to (ATL-DEN-Spokane-30 min drive) as opposed to the 2 hr drive out of Albany NY for IMLP. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Still in route back home but I too had a great time in CDA and really enjoyed the race and venue. Since it was my first IM, I don't have anything to compare it against. The lake was cold (55 degrees), but a couple of practice swims helped prepare me for it mentally. The bike course was hilly as said previously but nothing worse that what we ride on in terms of length or steepness in North GA. I think what made the run worse (mentally) for me at least was having to climb the back side of the big hill after the turn around before you descend again to the trail. I thought the folks in CDA were great and very supportive of all the athletes. It was easy for my family to get around and cheer for me. I would definitely recommend CDA as an IM venue. One thing to note in regards to the bike course: At the athletes dinner they said next year's bike course will be different and utilize US95 heading south versus heading north to the Hayden lake area like we did this year and previous years. Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() First of all, great race report! Your detail makes for a great read! I'm sorry your result was sub-par for you (I knew this on race day as I followed you), but like you told me at the Acworth tri, there are so many factors in an Ironman and so many things out if your control. So I'm extremely impressed with how you raced through it all and gutted out a tough race. That being said, I'm also happy to hear that you want to bang IM Lou for personal satisfaction (props to your wife btw). Secondly, what an awesome website you have! Do you do it yourself? Good luck with CdA recovery and training for Lou. I hope to run into you soon at a race somewhere. |
