Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30 a.m. after a restless night sleep and bad stomachache. Ate a pathetic half a bowl of cheerios and milk. Drove 30 mins. to race site. Got in an argument with Barry (which I apologize for- I was just very anxious and moody this morning). We body marked ourselves so that was taken care of. My bike rack was way the hell down on the far end of T1. Got everything set up and I was good to go.
Event warmup:

Our wave didn't go off til 8:10 so I had a while to wait. Saw Jessica, Sue, Janelle, Jim, and met Fred (bullgator). I swam for like 5 minutes before my wave went off. Chilly water, most ppl. had wetsuits on. Blew Barry a kiss and I was off.

Comments:

I was very apprehensive about the swim. Because of Hurricane Wilma, our pools were closed and I could not train the swim for several weeks. I got one measly swim in 2 days before the race...I thought I did okay- need new goggles, these started leaking as soon as I got in the water. Overall, pretty happy with my performance. I'm getting a wetsuit for xmas so that should help. Never used one, but I think it will give me an advantage at St. A next year. :)
Transition 1

Comments:

I decided that I was going to enjoy this race- I wasn't going out there to kill myself, but rather to push myself as hard as I could, while trying to purely enjoy the experience. Thus, I wasn't trying to rush in/out of T1. I got my bike stuff together and began the 1/4 mile trek to the end of T1. That's really fun running in bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to keep shoes on bike and run in bare feet. I need to practice this!

Comments:

Very pleased with my run performance! The plan was to run as usual and walk the water station and then like 15 seconds after that to catch my breath. I just kept telling myself, keep moving forward....and I did. After mile 5 I was really ready to be done, I could feel the blisters starting and I was definitely in need of some major hydration. It was also really sunny and hot out. Guess who forgot sunscreen! :(
What really made me happy was the fact that my run time at St. A was 1:12 for 6.1 miles and I did 6.5 miles in 1:06...that shows some improvement- yay!!
Post race
Warm down:

Found Barry, who ran in with me to the finish...Sharon put my medal on me. Thanks Sharon!! Got water and just wanted to sit down. My whole body was achy. Ate a banana and a muffin. Watched for Sue and Jim to come in. Saw Jessica on her second run lap. Didn't see Janelle at all! I got a plaque because they gave awards 5 deep and I was 5/8 in my group. Overall, what a great day...it was great to meet some new faces. I am a little sad this is the end of the season, but I am really looking forward to next year and continuing to improve my times.

Course: Um, I really, really, really hated the bike. I despise wind, and of course today's wind forecast was 15 mph winds. The tailwind was great- I was clipping along at 23 mph and then we hit the turnaround at mile 11. WOW. I was forced to go between 13 and 14 the entire way back. It was the longest 11 miles I have ever ridden. I was so looking forward to the run!

These times are not official, by the way- they are just what I remember seeing on the results sheet that they posted after the race...

Too bad I couldn't meet you guys, I had a wedding at 2pm and had to leave the place early to get ready.
Did you say sunscreen? Don't feel bad, I forgot the sunscreen! I had a funky tan that didn't match the dress I wore for the wedding. I am glad it was a long dress, the shorts and socks tan lines were the worst! LOL
