I want to know what magazines you read. I read backpacker and am looking for more magazines concerned with tri or one of the three components of the sport. What are your recommendations?

I like LAVA better than Triathlete as a tri mag. I think it has better training stuff and more in depth stories on the athletes and races. To me, Triathlete is nothing but an ad-fest, similar to Muscle and Fitness.

Bicycling and Runner's World are the two stalwart "component" magazines.

When we go to the library magazines like Mental Floss, Digital Photography and Family Handyman find their way home.

Lava was pretty good.  I picked one up at a shop a while back.  It's not a monthly magazine though right?  It's like 9x per year?

I'm not sure its even that often. Bi-monthly or even quarterly it seems. Its the only tri or fitness mag I get anymore.

I like Inside Triathlon as much or more than Lava or Triathlete Magazine but I get all three more or less--sometimes I will let a subscription slide for awhile.

I get RunnersWorld.

I let my Bicycling subscription expire--just never really read it that much.

Outside Magazine is a great read most months and has a section on training each month.

National Geographic Explorer (I think that is what it is called) is great but makes me want to go on trips that I will likely never get around to doing.

Books or my Ipad...

I gave all the magazines a couple years, but just like anything, they run out of things to talk about so type up the same story with a different title.  Can't blame them, there is only so much to talk about...   Other than new equipment reviews and interviews with athletes, a two year span will give you just about everything before they start to repeat it.

My MTN bike magazines and golf magazines are worse.  How many times do I have to read about tips for ascending/descending or the "magic move" in the golf swing.

I was a subscriber to "220 Triathlon" UK based magazine, now I read their articles online mostly.

I get Triathlete and runners world regularly and subscribe to Tri-Magazine on the iphone.

I would highly recommend everyone taking a look at 220 Triathlon's site, they have a few reasonably knowledgeable contributors to the magazine.  From one of the founders of VOTwo events and adventure to Chrissie W.

Running Times (gave on Runner's World, too basic and repetitive although I like the columns).

My husband get's Cycle Sport and I usually read a few articles.  It's fun for keeping up on the pro cycling industry and it's British so the way they say things is funny.

The only tri magazine I get is the USA Triathlon which comes with my USAT membership.

I'm a MOP'er who's given up all aspirations for the podium.  So anymore, since I live at sea level, I use my tri training as backpack training so I'm not so gassed when I hit elevation.

I've been picking up regularly but don't subscribe to:

Triathlete - i like Jesse Thomas' column  (the one about swimming with high schoolers made me laugh so hard!)

3/GO - another triathlon magazine - some interesting pictures, every issue has a section about regular age-groupers. I like that sort of thing

I do subscribe to:

Runner's world - have for years, yes, it's repetitive but i do enjoy it every month and just recycle it or pass it on to friends when i am done.

Triathlon Canada - it's only every two months but they do a good job and it supports the local scene. My swim coach often writes the swim training section

Everyday Food - i like to cook

Everyday with Rachael Ray - ditto for above.
