What about buying tickets in a another city when they go on sale? Make a romantic weekend trip of it!

Too many risks with getting scalped tickets.  Forgeries, illegal, may not get them.  Not very romatictc either, to be haggling over tickets in an alley while the wife waits!

Stubhub is legal, even if it's expensive.  That may just be the price you pay for waiting.

But I like KSH's suggestion.  Use that money for a gettaway weekend including concert.  That would be my choice if it's possible to swing.

Also cruising local classfieds may give you more leeway. I have a co-worker who has picked up tickets for a few things (sporting events and concerts) off Craigslist/Kijiji - it can be risky too but it's usually an individual closer to the date of the concert who can't make it for one reason or another.

I use Stubhub all the time, totally legit and they even have a guarantee.   Of course, I often go solo, the stadium is right next door to my office so I have bought 2d and 3d row tix at a bargain an hour or so before the show.

Pairs of tickets will not drop as fast, since they are easier to sell.  And if they do drop, they will not drop until about 24-36 hours, and not by much.  Won't see the steep drops until hours before the show.  I've seen tickets for some acts go from $1000+ to under $500 in a few hours.  ETA at The Who last week I was sitting next to a guy that bought from the same block I did, he bought the day before and spent $200 more than me, I bought day of show

There's also other ticket services, barrys, vip, but I have often found they are sellig the same seats and prices are similar, but sometimes not.

If you can't do the weekend thing, suck it up.  I would not say "hey honey Happy Valentine's Day, taking you to see Pink but we have to show up 2 hours early with cash so I can find a guy to sell us tickets"    Pink is a hot ticket.

All I can offer is that I bought tickets on Stub Hub for Book of Mormon and it worked fine. I got them in the mail a few days later.  As the FAQ said, they have some guys name on them. They seem legit.  I'll find out tomorrow I guess.

I chose to buy before they went on sale to the general public, so I didn't get screwed. I have a tendency to miss stuff like that.   My desire to go was probably similar to your wife's. I WAS going, just a matter of how.   I wasn't willing to risk not going.  If that's the case, why wait?

My advice would be if they are a price you can stomach now, then just buy them.  The selection will never get any better.  Will the price go up? I wouldn't look back to see.

I'm in the same boat as you. My sister and I *really* want to go, but alas, no tickets. (We tried to buy them only a day or two after onsale and there already were no two tickets seated together to be had.)

I have used stubhub many times with no problem, but just have to come to grips with overpaying before actually going and doing so.

It's not to everyone's taste because of the risk of a counterfeit but I have bot tix off Craigslist for several shows. No drama yet.

I'd keep an eye on craigslist.  There will be some regular folks that can't attend and need to dump the tickets.  I have purchased plenty of tickets off of craigslist for face value.  I prefer the face-to-face on craigslist as opposed to ebay.  Be wary of email tickets, though.
