Subject: After work should I.........

So this morning I got up at frigging 4:30 am for 5am masters and the pool lights were out so I went home and did a trainer workout instead.  I didn't sleep well and it took everything I had to get out of bed and drag myself to the pool so not really happy about all that and now I am totally whooped....so tired.....so after work should I

1-Stop at the pool and make up the workout (I can't swim tommorrow)
2-Gohome and do a seocnd trainer workout
3-Go to the recc enter and check out the hip hop dance class
4-Go home and crash.

WWBTD??????????????

Slight hijack, but... was the pool closed, or open but dark?

5.  go to 7-11, buy a busch ice tallboy, wrap in a paper bag, and sit outside of the store talking to yourself while drinking it.

Litterally as I was driving in BAM all the lights in the parking lot went out and the power inside the pool was somehow partially on because the fans were running buth there was no light inside. It was open but dark. No one was getting in the pool.  It was going to take 15-20 minutes for the lights to"re-set" or some such thing.  No idea.  I guess we all could have been bad a$$ and gotten in the dark pool but no one else was moving that way either.  Its a 50 meter indoor pool.  We did have a storm roll thru this morning which the power outage was probably related to.  Happens here in FL all the time.  I didn't have 15-20 extra minutes this am to wait on that

That only works if you haven't showered for a few weeks or so. Or changed your clothes.

Socks is a doctor so she probably hasn't done either. She's in.

IF you're intent on working out, then I say do something different and fun and do the hip hop class - those kinds of classes always put a smile on my face and I've never regretted doing on, no matter if I look like a penguin with a broken leg or not.

If you've just had too long a day... bag it, go home, have a big-azz glass of wine or something and get back to training another day.

It's too late for my contribution to be a constructive addition, but I'm a big fan of sleep. If you've already worn yourself out to a sufficient extent, get some rack time and attack the pool another day.

Improving speed in swimming is more than just doing a few sprints at the beginning and end of your workouts. It takes a little more thinking, but I promise there is no high level math involved!

One way to improve your speed is to do track work that totals the time and distance goal. The idea is to slowly condition your body to be comfortable at your goal pace.
