 50 |  Subject: Do you wear your Tri shirt/shorts in MarathonIf you are running a Half/Full Marathon stand alone event outside of your Triathlons do you wear regular running clothes or do you feel more comfortable wearing either of your Tri shorts shirt, shorts, or suit? I have always worn regular running clothes, but this being my first Tri season I have gotten used to wearing to the Tri gear and was thinking of wearing it. Any thoughts on better or worse to wear just running? Cooler or warmer to wear? Feels better or not? |

It was so cool as the people cheering would see that and yell, "Go Rocketman!" and "Good job Rocketman" etc. It really helps to have a tee-shirt on with something that people can call out to. In my last IM I had change in T2 into running shorts. While out on the course I overheard some woman say to her friend about me, 'at least this guy has on running shorts and not spandex'. I guess I thought everyone did this but evidently many keep the tri suit on. |

I use the Desoto Forza shorts and have several pairs that are exactly the same. I don't even notice whatever minimal pad that is there but I do wear a running shirt or tank with them. Plus they are more aero for my 6 mph run. I always thought the spectators yelling out "Hey Tool!" were referring to the guys around me but now I know the truth Keba |

I have run shorter races (15K/ 10K/ 5K) in Tri shorts. Depends on race and conditions. |

I ran my first ultra last weekend in 2XU compression shorts (like my tri shorts w/out the chamois). I think I was the only one who wasn't wearing 'running' shorts. I had zero chaffing issues and therefore will continue to let my geek flag fly and stick to my comp. shorts. Who cares if others choose to pass judgment. That's their burden. |

You can certainly wear whatever you like, but aesthetically speaking tri shorts in a running-only race have a really high dork factor, and also say "noob" pretty loudly. Functionally padded shorts are not necessary. The Style Council (my three daughters) would say no. Good lord no. Compression wear without padding is fine running wear.
