  • Comments: Again, Chris put on a top-notch event. I felt the race was very organized and well run. The volunteers were super, very vocal when giving instructions and also were great at shouting support. Thanks to the state police for their efforts as well. The race grows each year and is truly one of the best races in the area. Competitive field yet balanced with many abilities. And this year there were more vendors and more things for the spectators to do while waiting for their racers. 494/594 overall 131/193 females 27/36 AG 7/16 Athena (which is the group I was registered in)

  • Comments: Friendly crowd, friendly competitors, many parents sneaking out to race and head back to kids sports events for the afternoon. You could hear a pin drop (plus the birds singing in the woods) during the national anthem. Since this race supports the IM ABLE foundation for veterans, a heart warming start to the race. Additionally they had a spin class for spectators during the race, along with hand cranks for the physically challenged. Great way to start the season.

  • Comments: First tri ever! Main goal was to finish intact, i.e. don't drown, don't crash, don't trip. Goal accomplished!

  • Comments: this was my first and only tri, so i have nothing to compare it to. i do have to say that the volunteers were friendly and encouraging, which was appreciated. i didn't ride the bike leg beforehand, but there was ZERO confusion as to the course. Every turn was manned and apparent. i have already decided to reclaim some of my pride by returning next year. My goal is to drop from a 2:32 finish to under 1:35, which would put me middle of the pack. There must be something about this sport if I can do that badly, yet still have a good time!

  • Comments: Great race again this year. Close to home so easy logistically. Great to see family and friends and a good early season course with shorter swim and some solid hills on the bike.

  • Comments: This is an excellent event, and I recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to race it. The only negatives are the rough road for the bike in/out, and the post race food could be better. The only options were bananas, oranges, bagels, and trail mix.

  • Comments: This being my first tri, I have nothing but great reviews to share. Volunteers and competitors were super friendly. Despite being a small lake and short swim, very well organized, so waves moved smoothly. Bike course is very scenic, and challenging (hill training highly recommended). Run is flat and most of it in wooded rails to trails section. Awesome experience. Highly recommend it. I'm lucky to live close by, since I plan to make it a permanent fixture in my racing calendar every year.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Volunteers had a bit of a problem controlling the car and foot traffic on the course. Caused me to have to slow going into the turn to go up the first hill and to almost take out a lady with a baby carriage on my way back into transition from the bike.

  • Comments: Although it looks like a lot of bad news as I write this a day after the race, I learned a lot! While I really struggled with the swim and first transition, I was able to work through it and keep going. I also need to work on drinking and eating. I know this will really limit me as I try to push the pace and do longer races. Looking forward to next time! I'm always amazed at the shapes and ages of people who pass me during the race. What an inspiration to keep pushing myself to train harder!

  • Comments: This was a well-organized race. I'd definitely do it again, for the reason that it was a well-thought-out course. The race director really did a great job of communicating to participants, before the race via email as well as at the end during the awards ceremony. As a new particpant, I was impressed at his passion (which was contagious) for the organization - that he is part of- that benefitted from this race. (The myelin project) There were drink stations at the entrance/exit to the trans area, so I grabbed a drink after the swim and at the beginning of the run. Plus there was an icy cold bottle of water handed to me at the end of the run. I just think I need more water than the average person durnig a run. Oh, and the participant tech shirts are really nice! This was a great event for a great cause. I learned a lot - I respect the course as a great challenge - and I had fun (in an 'I want to cry if I ever see another hill' sort of way) ;)

  • Comments: GREAT T-Shirt. I really loved the design and material. Pre-race (the day before) beginner's clinic was nice. The lake is designed for swimming (resort) so it was actually quite nice, but a little cold. Beautiful area. I am definitely doing this one again next year!
