Was sorting thru some old photos and came across this one.  We thought it was pretty funny at the time.

It is illegal to swim where my first tri was.  They even warn you about aligators.

My tri in July is in a lake...which happens to be the cooling source for a cone. The lake has this bad boy luring over it:

Yeah that's the same reason they don't allow swimming in the lake we were in.  We saw a few sunning themselves on the banks before the race.  Of course you can't go to any lake in FL without seeing at least one gator.

You think they were saying something about this guy's bike?

This sign was in the middle of the transition area

I can't get this picture to post here correctly, but this 551 lb Bull Shark was caught just .7 miles from where I swim... Yikes.

As for the cooling stack, that nuke actually cleans the water.  You should be happy.  But it is a spooky site when you're right near them.

This one for the win!  For some reason it reminds me of the Simpsons and the three eyed fish that swim in the lake.

I thought that might have been one of Duke Power's plants for some reason.
What race is that? My folks live in Cary and I was thinking about taking the family (and bike) up there sometime during the summer.  It's cooler than Florida...

Friend of mine made this great sign for me at my first tri a couple months ago.  How thoughtful.

My friend made a sign last year that said
FLOATIES $1
And was wearing kids sized floaties on his arms. He was nicely positioned at the swim start and got more than a few chuckles.

I've also seen in a marathon at the 1-mile marker:
ONLY 25.2 MILES TO GO!

This was the first of MANY signs at the Savageman race in MD.  Very hilly.  Saw this sign 500ft out of transition.

On the bike course...

"Minnesota... Land of 10,000 lakes and 100,000 hills."

I had to laugh as I dragged my butt over yet another hill.

How about this one?

My wife e-mailed this to me after I asked her how she felt about going to New Orleans for the HIM, instead of going to New Orleans for Jazz Fest the following week.
