I'm in!  This will be my first IM.  I was there volunteering this year, and I cannot wait for next year's race :-)  I'll be doing Eagleman in June also as my warm-up event.

You guys, it was awesome. I loved it so much I was planning on signing up again until Florida unexpectedly stayed open to the public for 30 minutes. I will definitely do Maryland at least once more at some point. Enjoy!!

^^^ This.  IMMD was my back up plan, and the one that I figured that I'd end up doing, but I was able to get into FL, so IMFL it is.  Although this would be a "home town" race for me and I do like Eagleman 70.3 so, I'm sure that I will do this one soon.

You will be fine. If I can do one anyone can.  I;m a LATE finisher type of girl.  The training is way harder than the race. WELCOME!!!!

I am in!! My last Ironman was Panama City Florida in 2011. I want to beat my time of 12:59:08 before I get too old! I live in Wilmington Delaware. I love that Ironman has this race so close to home. I have a question to the forum. Does the Swim area in Cambridge have open water swimming during the spring and summer? I would love to do some training swims there.

You can swim in the Choptank if you like.  But there are no lifeguards at Great Marsh Park and it isn't a "closed" swimming area so you'll have to contend with people fishing and boat traffic coming in and out of the yacht club and the resort past the bridge.  If you stick close to the shore line you should be good so long as no one is fishing in the area.

Good idea on the Kayak.  If you don't want to buy there is a bike and kayak rental place in Blackwater... not too far from the park.

GREAT.  I signed up for this because a friend had and wanted me to race with her and offered me a room in the house she had rented.  Now she dropped out TWO WEEKS AGO and didn't bother to tell me so now I have to find a place to stay.  I know NOTHING about the race other than its in MD and have to find a place to stay.  Fab. I am so annoyed

Susan, it seems like forever ago, but didn't we meet at IMFL in 2010?  It sticks in my head that Kathy G organized a couple BT meet ups there - IIRC, a swim, group picture, and a lunch.

I'm considering signing up through either fundraising for the IM Foundation or Save the Children (I've been keeping my eye on the general entry, but it must have just recently closed out; it'll be my first IM!). I was looking into hotels before I committed to anything, but it looks like every hotel in Cambridge/Easton that I can find is booked for that weekend. Where are people staying or have I missed the boat on this? My family lives about an hour and a half away, but that really doesn't sound ideal...

Also, does anyone have any insight on what the money raised for IMF actually specifically goes towards? I want to make sure I pick a cause that I feel strongly about to fundraise for!

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?
