Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois So cool! I have ridden in some of those areas and he is going to have one heck of a beautiful ride. Hope he is able to appreciate it while racing. Do they get to sleep normally or is it one of those races where you just sort of crash for a few hours and then carry on? Back in Saigon as of this AM. About to go see if my legs will allow me to go forward in some kind of running motion. Actually was doing really well with recovery by Wednesday and Thursday but now there is the little matter of a 16-hour time change and 18 hours of flying, on top of the HIM last week. We shall see! Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois Wow - another thread. Yikes! I'm in! We doing bios again? Been heads down at work lately. Just got FDA clearance for the first test ever for treatment of Leukemia patients, so it's been unusually busy. Feels good to give cancer a run for its money, especially leukemia for me, considering what it's taken away in just the last year... I'll post a bit more about it later, as some might find it interesting, but I'm traveling this week and have to run. Matt |

Congrats on the FDA clearance! Woo hoo! |

Do they get to sleep normally or is it one of those races where you just sort of crash for a few hours and then carry on? Crash a few hours and carry on. Darren's plan was to sleep in a bivy tent and wash at McDonald's. He made it to checkpoint 1 in 2:10:28 (2 days, 10 hours and 28 minutes). Right now he appears to be within about two hours of his best projected time. He was hoping to be in Riom, France before 1200 1st Aug (CET). Right now it’s 1:53 PM CET. I'm glad that you made it back safely. I hope that recovery/jet lag abatement goes well! |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois McMatt suggested that we might want to reintroduce ourselves since we're at the beginning of a new thread. I'd like to modify is suggestion and say that we should do this in the Manatee Personal format (if you were writing a personal ad for yourself with the audience being the Manatees): I'm Janyne (that’s ja-neen). IM finisher. I like to run and ride bikes. Adult onset swimmer and I like swimming more than swimming likes me. I live with my husband, Kevin, in the Raleigh, NC area. Golden retriever puppy, Zoe, will be 11 months old this week. |

I live with my DH, 1 Greyhound, 2 cats, and I love Janyne's puppy Zoe. |

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois I'm Karen. Long-time running addict (since age 10), and triathlete for about the past six years. Have done all distances up to and including HIM; lately seem to be doing a lot of the latter! Running and swimming are my strengths; the bike is my nemesis! I seem to specialize in hot conditions and tough courses; better at that than pure speed. Managed to run myself into Worlds in May at IM Vietnam 70.3. Looking forward to racing in Australia as I've never been. Just hoping I don't run into a kangaroo and that someone in 70+ has a bad day so I don't end up DFL. I'm an international school teacher and live in steamy Saigon about 10 months of the year with my two fur children (cats), Smudgee (4 1/2, 15 pounds) and Tomoko (3, 6 pounds), who look (from pics at least) like the same cat in sizes XXL and XXS. Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois Hi, I'm Chris. I like long walks on the beach and short runs at the park. I enjoy cycling and barely tolerate swimming. I am a sprint triathlete a few times a year, but mostly I enjoy family, photography, training, and have lately begun spending time with TW (THE Wife, Ann) doing ropes and tree courses. At 6'3" I hate heights, go figure. I have 2 daughters that occasionally show up in my blog. I love all three of the ladies in my life and realize just how blessed I am. BTW, TW is the ultimate wife, I'd suggest that everyone find one like her. Maybe she'll be TuW from now on. |
