Swim
Comments: Had a REALLY tough time getting started- I dont know if I was nervous or what- but I just felt like I didnt have any air. Told myself to realx- that I have done this before. Then suddenly I was fine and got into my nice easy stroke. I felt pretty good- decided to try to go alittle faster. Then came the next wave and I got a little discouraged- but kept pushing. I was pretty happy with my sighting- amazing what a little practice does! Kept hoping the next bouy would be the yellow one so we could turn in- seemed to take forever. Got out of the water and looked at my watch 41 minutes- 2 minutes faster then High Cliff- Ill take it. Then had a pretty nice run through the sand to transition- ugh. What would you do differently?: swim faster of course! Ill get there. Last year I said I could never swim a mile- and that I would definitly never swim in Lake Michigan. And look at me now. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty decent T1. I liked the fact that I was on the end and could use the outside gate to hang onto when I was putting my shoes on. Wetsuit came off great. only bad thing was I get there and see I never put my sticker on my helmet- just sat it next to it- dumb ass- so that took a couple of seconds. What would you do differently?: Put my dumb helmet sticker on my helmet before T1. Bike
Comments: Was really hoping to hit 20mph. I really have the ability to do this- just have to keep pushing. Bike was OK.. new seat was OK... lost a bottle at like mile 5. I really thought this course was way to bumpy. I also had a headache since I woke up and the bumps were NOT helping much. I usually really have fun on the bike- but today it was just kinda blah. What would you do differently?: Push harder. I took almost 10 minutes off my time since High Cliff a month ago- so cant complain too much. Transition 2
Comments: Not sure why this was so long. I did put on socks- learned my lesson last time. Grabbed my race belt, grabbed my visor, grabbed a gu and away I went. I also wore my shoes with normal laces.. I think those elastic things kind of hurt my feet, so I had to tie my shoes too. Felt pretty good coming aoff bike too. What would you do differently?: I dont know Run
Comments: Really thought I had a faster run split than this. The first 4 or 5 milesI was doing about 8:30s- then went to 8:40-8:50 then the last couple miles was about 9:15... I also walked most of the aid stations. next time I am running through them. My calves were really starting to cramp- I grabbed endurolytes twice- I think that helped. I LOVE it when they have ice at aid stations. Tried to have fun on the course- you know- mask the pain. Felt much stronger then a month ago- when I alomst lost it on the run. The support along the course was great though. Took 6 minutes off my run time in a month- again- cant complain. Oh did I mention my great belching ability in my HIMs??? I have NO idea what is causding it- but it starts almost right away on the bike and last throughtout the run. Maybe had something to do with the swim- because it doesnt happen in training. Really its quite impressive :) What would you do differently?: I think I could have run a little harder- but was being careful- since I knew I had a hard time on my second loop at High CLiff. I would like to knock anothe 6 minutes off. Post race
Warm down: Did another loop of the run course. You dont believe me do you??? :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Im slow?? Event comments: Ill take 1st place anyday. I took 15 minutes off my last HIM a month ago- so I am pretty happy with this. This was a fun race- although I sort of expected more??? I also qualified for the halfmax nationals... in my AG or Athena- so thats cool. Last updated: 2007-05-31 12:00 AM

Decided since I have been gaining weight lately...where?? Im not sure- hoping it is muscle :) decided to switch to Athena... I knew I wouldnt win anything in my AG and thought I could maybe pull off something racing athena.
Was fun meeting all you BTers Saturday night too.
I was lucky enought to have my dear friend drop me off right in front of transition Sunday morning.
I was REALLY happy the lake looked calm.
Well we had to walk a mile down the beach for the swim start... I think maybe they should have shortened the run by a mile :) Another great thing about being switched to Athena- we had a much earlier start time the my AG- so I started at 7:12.
