I've done a standard distance in the area and it was a nice route. Would love to see a 70.3 there! Maple Valley -- city council agenda - "Resolution No. R-19-1409 authorizing the City Manager to execute the Host Venue Agreement with World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) to host 2020 IRONMAN 70.3® Washington-Maple Valley on September 20, 2020." And... Memphis on October 3rd. At 11 hours away, not really interested. Wow, they just keep coming! And saying no to a race 11 hours away? Pffft. Some fools sign up for such things to race with podmates. That fool is me/Chatt, just in case anyone thought otherwise. I'm sort of interested in this one but will have to see what the course looks like. It would definitely be a long drive for me, but I did that for Louisville and it didn't kill me! Of course, I had a free place to stay in Nashville for my layover coming and going; so that helped! |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Originally posted by abake The EX2 gravel race looks amazing. That group puts on some great events. I have an aunt who lives in Maryland, so a few years back I drove my Mom out east to visit her and did EX2's Xterra in Cumberland. Had the best time getting my butt kicked. Good to know! I am planning on a new road bike this winter. I want to get one that can be made "gravel ready" by changing wheelsets. That way if I get into gravel, I can do so without adding yet another bike to the stable. |

In case we want to get our gravel on sooner. I volunteer as tribute to do some scouting. I did not know about this. We may need to have Melanie do some recon (it's not that close to Mel, it's north of Harrisburg by quite a bit -- but it's way closer to her than it is to me!)-- and then we'll all need gravel bikes Ooh, that looks pretty and fun, too and is only around 2.5 hour drive for me. If you want someone to help with recon...I may know someone |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Originally posted by jmkizer Racing Manatees!!! Look at all the racing manatees, yay!! I will admit that the name/theme of a race has drawn me in on occasion...OK, maybe more than on occasion. The Sticks and Biscuits is near and dear to my heart, supporting one of the local youth sled hockey teams. Interesting tidbit for those not in the know - of course the team is primarily for physically adaptive kids but they round out the team with non-adaptive kids but once you strap them to the sled, they become equals on the ice. No joke, though - I've seen some highly talented sled hockey kids, very impressive! The adult national teams are incredible to watch. I've tried it once, too. Talk about an ab and arm workout, whew! |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Happy Thanksgiving! Sunny but cold day here after first snow of the year yesterday (typically for Oregon, it all melted a few hours later). Had a nice run and got started on Black Friday shopping. Making a big assumption that I will still be able to compete after all the metal comes out of my arm (and will have the time to train with what seems to be a job and a half lately), but am getting myself a dreadmill, swim snorkel (since it hurts to breathe to the right and I'm getting really tired of always breathing to the left), swim parka (cause the Y pool deck is COLD although water is nice, and my only other option is a year-round outdoor pool!), and a couple pairs of my favorite goggles, which don't seem to be sold locally anywhere (I always stocked up in Singapore). I don't know about others but goggles drive me NUTS! I have a small head so have to find women's, "small fit", or even Junior if I want them to actually fit. For every three pairs I have tried, maybe one actually works. No idea about race plans for next year. Waiting to see how swimming feels after recovering from surgery and guess will just take what is open and doable then. Edited by Hot Runner 2019-11-28 10:09 PM |

Sorry to have been offline so much though I have been lurking/following our racers if silently. It's been a crazy busy juggling multiple jobs and a newly mobile 1 year old but I hope to be more active soon as things wrap up this semester at work. |

Member 836 North Augusta, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Raced a 10k this morning (in my Manatees shirt to boot). Busted my butt to get in under an hour, but came in at 1:01. The good news? It was really 6.5 miles, so met my 10k goal and set a new Garmin lactate threshhold in the process. |

That's great you were able to get out for a run and have plans in place for some race plans, maybe, or at least being better prepared to train in general. |
