ALL RIGHT LINDA!!! I'm sooooo glad I saw you (albeit briefly) on the run. Sorry I wasn't there to see you finish. Was probably getting a massage or being forced to eat chicken broth.

A bit behind on the board (duh), but a quick thanks for all of your support. I LOVED crossing the timing mats because then I knew my peeps would know I was alive and well.

Will work on RR later. Quick summation: Did not make my secret goal time, but am not sad one bit. My run, if you noticed, got off to a very, very rough start. My stomach was a MESS. I totally felt like I was gonna puke. Saw one of the team coaches around mile 3 and he suggested trying coke and if I needed to, hurl. Heaved around mile 3.5 and barely anything came out. But around mile 4 I totally unloaded the gut (in front of total strangers who were SOOOOO nice and gave me napkins and water and encouragement). After that I walked until my stomach settled down. Then I ran, walking hills and water stops. I only drank coke and water -- cannot believe I did that entire flipping marathon on coke. (OK, I did eat about 2 bites of banana and sucked on about 3 pretzels.) Anyway, once the tummy settled down I felt FINE and was able to run as strong as can be expected after that bike. I think it was the heat that got to me... I'm most proud that I was able to bounce back. I truly was having flashes of DNF and spending the rest of the race in the medical tent on an IV when I was getting sick. It was awful.

Was sooooo happy to finish!!!! First major race I've finished where I didn't cry at the end -- go figure!!!

Will write more tomorrow. You guys rock!!

I feel the same as Kyla...didn't hit my goal time, not even close. 12:59.59 didn't happen.  SECONDARY goal time, 13:59.59 obviously also didn't happen. Final goal was to beat my IMWI time and according to my daughter, I did.  By "1 stinkin' minute, Mom".  Cool  I also wanted beat Jeff at something, T1 works!  Helps that he felt like crap. Frown

Jeff has reminded me a dozen times that this was my 'B' race, after my 'A' race in Boston.  He advises that I'm not allowed to change designation once training is done for the first one.  AND, I can't whine about it now.

It was awesome seeing Kyla pretty regularly this entire weekend - too bad she doesn't live closer, I could learn much by training with her!!  I am asolutely blown away by her splits - egads, she's been hiding her light under a bushell!  It was a perfectly HORRIBLE swiim -and Kyla breezed right through it.  My daughter called to LAUGH at my splits!

I'll work on my race report too......I have stories and plenty "I'd never to it again this way' to share!  Teaser - I saw 4 penises (peni?) thanks to men who can't lock a porta potty.

Made my day to have hubby out there - even got kisses during the run.  Ref tried to call outside assistance, but let us go!  ROFTFLMAO.

So wonderful  that you all got to see me and hubby (Jeff, 1608) finish, super bummer Kyla'a got buffered.  That was one of the things that kept me going - knowing how many of you were watching.  Should have kept up with miss fish to make it easier!

It was an amazing experience that trancends every thing I've done outside of marriage and makin' babies (and those took longer, anyway.  pain level similar.

Talk to you all soon.  Gonna go to the roll down in the morningand see if 37 ladies don't want their Kona spot!
Maybe rr tomorrow, may be Weds once we hit vacation.  Linda & Jeff, you are an Ironman (or 2, or 3), what will you do?   We're going to Hawaii!

Congratulations.

Congratulations on having the courage to toe the line, and on having the inner strength and fortitude to finish.

Bravo.

And I am really interested in the teaser...What were those 4 guys doing in a porta-potty?  I did not think there was space in there for 4 people.

OMG, 4 penises!?! Too funny. None for me. Congratulations, Linda. It was a hard, hard day. And hey, you PR'ed so great for you!!! Congratulations to Jeff also. He is amazing.

I will say that, aside from my tum-tum issues, the swim was the crappiest part of the day. That swim was BRUTAL and I was amongst mostly men and just got clobbered and hammered THE ENTIRE TIME. I never got to just find a spot and swim. Frustrating. But I'm happy I pulled off a good split in spite. My dream of dreams was 1:00, but I'll take the 1:05.

It was more than 3 hours before I could eat anything. Ugh! I had my post-race pizza in a bag and finally ate that around 11pm last night. Made myself drink some chicken broth post-race and had a power-something-or-other drink but really was just trashed. Then up at 4:30 totally starving and unable to sleep.  But I can walk and that's great!!

Post-race I told Dave, "I feel like I ran a marathon. A tough marathon, but really, just a marathon." Still feel like that this morning. I don't have any "special" IM soreness.

And here I was thinking you would both be sound asleep!  You guys are both incredible!  Kyla- if you swam with the pros you definitely would have had your sub 1:00!  And probably been very close to leading the whole thing!  I hope you clobbered a few of them back!

Now enjoy your rest, you ironwomen do deserve it!  Imagine your summer days not rushing around to get that 5 hour ride in!  or that 2 hour run done before the kids get out of practice!  Bask in your glory!  And then pick out your next race....

So great to hear from you two, Kyla and Linda! Can't wait to read the race reports! That swim sounds BRUTAL. You both are amazing!!! Congrats to Jeff too!  Hawaii sounds like an awesome way to recover! Enjoy some recovery time. You have earned it!!!

Congrats to all our other racers this weekend too! Sounds like everyone did great!

Me... I did get up at 4:30am to go swim at our new club that just opened today. Unfortunately, when I got there I saw a sign saying the pools don't open until 7/6.   Oh well, I got signed up for their cycling class at 5pm and will swim this afternoon in Hood River.

You ladies are very inspirational.  I'm sure I correct in saying John, Trevor, Suzy and I will be studying your RR for every ounce of advise and detail.

Linda, that is so wonderful that you were able to race with the hubby.  I would love to do that someday - maybe when the kids are older.

Kyla - "just a marathon?!?!"  I can't even say that and I know I would feel trashed if I did.  You are a machine girl.

Wonderful job ladies.  I'm very proud..

I look forward to reading Linda and Kyla's RR's. The raw numbers hardly tell the story! I was tracking as well, but this group is so fast to post updates, that never once did I see something that someone else had not already posted.I know I could not complete an IM right now. I would need at least a year. You ladies (and Jeff) are incredible! Congrats!Doug

So you want a really great story? Check this out. This guy is at our hotel -- I rode with him a bit yesterday, recognized his number and bike and shouted out to him then we chatted a few minutes, super nice guy. Just saw him this morning -- along with lots of other insomniac/starving athletes. Fun breakfast at the hotel while families slept -- we all traded race stories. The collective experience is just so cool.

Nice job x 100,000 to Kayla, Linda, and Jeff.  Way to go.  You are an IRONMAN!

My other buddy I was watching must of DNF'ed, no splits listed after the first run split.  This was his 4th IM.....it will be interesting to hear what happened.

Still no information from my race posted on the website, so no RR.  I am out of the office the rest of the day.  Be good!
