She crab soup......worth every fat calorie from every ounce of heavy cream.  Thank God I rarely head to the Outer Banks to get it cause I would need to be wheeled out in a wheel barrel.

Hush puppies and lots of 'em.

Good old fashioned gyro.

Forgot the other since I can't get it here. Meatball sub (Subway will do, but one from a real Italian place would be better). Must have banana peppers and olives. Sometimes I get (and eat) a footlong after a big swim workout in the US, or I split it with Dad (partner in sandwich crime) while food purist Mom looks on in horror. Or a similar Chicago delight that I think is called an Italian beef sandwich. (It's been a long time since I've been back to the Midwest, where I grew up; Dad and I enjoyed many of these when I was a kid--still recall chowing down on them after our first marathon!)

jlruhnke - 2013-04-05 1:31 PM A Jucy Lucy and fries

Bless it, I want to try one of those.  Philly, right?  I saw it on Food TV or travel channel or something.  I would have to try both "originals" to make sure.  Maybe a couple times to verify my findings.

Yep. The Jucy Lucy is a MN thing. There are two places that claim to have the original, but all sorts of other places around town that have made their own versions. All are pretty delicious. It is pretty hard to screw up meat stuffed with cheese.

Salisbury steak with homemade gravy. Gravy made with stuff left in the pan after cooking the steaks, onions, mushrooms, flour, and WHOLE milk. Heaven. We prefer it with brown rice though.

Funny this should be posted now. DT and I just tried out a new burger place - to us. Found it on "Cheap Eats" in Western Washington, which I have referred to MANY a times with a lot of success!!

I didn't know what to expect...but this place was this trailer-type out in the middle of nowhere (practically.) The sign said "Worth the wait"...so we got in line behind the 5-7 other cars. Unfortunately, not being able to do dairy or eggs my burgers aren't nearly as unhealthy as they "could" be...but Dave on the other hand. I believe he even said last night, "If the engine's hot enough it can burn anything..."

The description of the Breakfast Sandwich (served anytime):
Fried egg, 4 slices bacon, double cheese, tomato and mayo...and then Dave decided to add a burger to it. (This made it a whole whopping $6!!) I had a small bite...it was PHENOMENAL!!

Oh! and I almost forgot to mention the order of "Frings" we got - 1/2 french fries, 1/2 onion rings...

Hot Runner - 2013-04-05 4:29 PM

Just before my HIM last year, my mom and I ate at this great place in (I think) Snohomish, Washington. They had a variety of burgers, and they came with all the fries you could eat. Nom, nom, nom.....

Now I must find this place...any ideas of the name??

Blazing Onion Burger, maybe? Pilchuck Drive-In?? (Although I don't see anything about all the fries you can eat...but I haven't looked on the menu.) Maybe I just need to try every burger place in the Seattle area to make sure I find the best one :-D

BY THE WAY JAKARTA JUST GOT AN IN-N-OUT BURGER

I thought it was very important to share that.

Especially since country fried steak 'n' eggs with biscuits 'n' gravy are pretty hard to come by here.

Blazing Onion sounds right. Remember it had something to do with onions. They do have an excellent veggie burger (which I got, along with the fries--not a health food purist, just don't like hamburger) as well as a few other options other than hamburgers. They even have an option to substitute a salad for the fries, but that would just be sad!

Is it a chain? Only seen the one in Snohomish. Sadly we took another route back to avoid Seattle traffic and visit some family friends, or I would have repeated that debacle with post-race appetite!

If the recipe starts with 'first you make a roux', I'm usually down.

For those not so fortunate as to be exposed and knowledgable about cajun and creole cooking, a roux is essentially flour cooked in oil to make a paste that's used as a base in gumbo and etouffe.

Other choices would be a big ribeye, or a really good cheeseburger (post race meal of choice), or pizza, or Mexican.
