All set up and ready for winters toil. I am told it is much quieter than the old one so I might be able to run in the mornings if I can drag myself out of bed early enough. I have also reluctantly drug my bike down to the basement as Mr. Sun is setting super early and weekday rides appear to be over. Re trainer programs - I have used TrainerRoad for a while but am trying out Zwift as a free trial right now. Does anyone have opinions on which is better? Also - any others I should check into? I would say that I am sorry about you losing your light but the reality is I'm not because it means I get it here instead and I want to keep it for the next 6 months. Its been so nice to get up in the daylight. Thankfully where I live we don't have daylight savings so we get to keep the light in the mornings. Over east they started daylight savings a couple of weeks ago so they are back to getting up in the dark for a little bit longer. |

Conrats on the new treadmill.A good one is well worth the money. I use trainerroad with The Sufferfest. I was part of the Beta test for Zwift. I like Zwift, but it turns into a really long interval for me, because I can't control myself and try to race the entire field. |

I beta tested Zwift as well and found the same thing, they do have actual training sessions in the program now I just have to try it out. I think I am already gravitating back to TR though. |

Congrats on the new treadmill! And yes, sadly it is becoming trainer time for the bikes, at least during the week. I can't compare TR to Zwift as I've only used TR, but I do like what they have to offer. Zwift could be interesting. |

October 18 is Tom's birthday Go racers go!!!! And happy birthday Tom! I am may be racing tomorrow. It will be my fiest XC race of the season. However, we are having some crazy weather and an extreme amount of rain. They have been discouraging people from parks and play fields to avoid long term damage because of the water. So, ironically the XC race may be cancelled because of the rain. There is also a looming wind storm and the combination of soaked soil and wind could mean a real danger of falling tress. We shall see. Edited by Asalzwed 2016-10-14 12:58 PM |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois Hi Manatees, i had this drafted up earlier but wanted to stop in and say hi and wish everyone a good weekend. I have been keeping very busy over the last while. If you've stopped by my log recently then you'll know but I am 12 weeks pregnant this week. I had the ultrasound this week and everything looks good. I've been okay - had a bunch nausea and I am quite tired. But overall, i am very happy and looking forward to our new addition to our family. It's also getting very real on our reno - we hired a contractor, we're about to sign on a temporary rental. We're packing and purging at house! It's very exciting! So here's the baby as seen on Wednesday And here's Felicity, just for fun and smiles, who is in love with everything princesses. My co-worker gave her this dress and she is enthralled with it. She dug out the headband because snow white has a red bow.

Regular 980 Caerphilly, Wales, uk. | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois Originally posted by DaveL I find Zwift is better at passing the time riding on the trainer than others, a couple of hours go much quicker on Zwift than TR, but find their training plans not as well planned. By that, I mean I find the levels they set the intensity to be too much when starting out on a plan. TR training plans seem a lot more thought out with steady progression planned. It used to be good when I could run both Zwift and TR at the same time, ie TR controlling the resistance and Zwift providing the visual stimulus, but they put stop to that around the time they went behind a pay wall . I think I read of someone doing it again the other day, so maybe there's a work around again. I may try it back out in November/December as Strava premium members are getting those months free again.Another option is Cycleops Virtual Training. The software is a bit clunky but it does give the same type of thing as TR but without the structured training plans but it does include real videos that you can ride and the ability to race others. I also used it a lot when planning my route for transcon by uploading a gpx file of my planned route and riding it with Google street view playing. Also, there is the Sufferfest app, but I haven't tried that so can't comment.Originally posted by JBacarella I beta tested Zwift as well and found the same thing, they do have actual training sessions in the program now I just have to try it out. Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois Congrats Jen and good luck to the racers. No racing here unless one counts trying to get to Laos before a tropical storm hits. Need to check for updates before heading to the airport. Weather is okay here and Laos is probably too inland to be seriously affected but not sure about Hanoi (flying through there PM). Wanted to do a bike trip but no other takers and can't afford to go solo; it's just not very developed, and I don't speak Lao--tough to do without a guide. Just hanging out for our fall break as a break from urban chaos. I'm not much of a city girl. Not quite ready for the DL but might be tomorrow.Very sore throat yesterday and still a bit today. Kind of in denial and telling myself that it's just laryngitis from conferences, but most of my kids were sick this week with runny noses and horrid, barking coughs, as were many of the parents and several colleagues. Probably a cold. Just hope it doesn't mess up my trip. (I have asthma that becomes much worse when I'm sick, so that's a possibility. Ugh.) |

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2016 - Manatee à trois Hi everyone. Soooooooooo far behind. Read all the posts as they are posted, just have had no time to post myself. September is always stupid at work, plus I am taking two courses myself right now and I have worked every Sat since the start of the semester for various reasons. Have a bit of breathing room now, phew! Jim, so sorry to hear about your puppers, enough is enough already. Big congrats on the IM! Jen, congrats! Exciting news. Glad to hear all were safe from Matthew. Randee, I am going to try and get a donation to you for some bracelets. As Adrienne said, we are in the midst of a storm here on the west coast. We are actually in the middle one of three that are expected, the worst coming tomorrow--the tail end of a typhoon that passed near Japan. High winds and OMG the rain. Actually a lull here right now, I can see some blue sky peeking in the distance. I was at a lab this morning in which we were doing goat exams and giving injections by flashlight. Good times! . Good luck to all you racers this weekend! |
