&... because people actually think dropping over a hundred pounds in 12 weeks is a "reasonable" thing.... like cutting out half your stomach, or having it stapled.

It isn't that I disagree with her.... but people continuously line up for some get fixed quick thing, then don't like the price they have to pay for it... You actually thought it was going to be "free"?

Ok...so after watching the past 7-8 seasons of TBL, I got fed up after last season and haven't watched one minute of this new season?  Am I missing anything?

Are they running a marathon at the end of the season, or doing something really dumb that might provide some entertainment?

I quit in the middle of last season too. It's better this time. There's no competition between trainers, and the competition between contestants is healthier than last season. They're already at makeover week, so if you haven't watched at all, there's not much point to jumping in now.

I only watch this show if I have nothing to do, which at times is rare.  I like watching it to see what the workouts are, I would love to spend a day at the ranch and workout with them as they do some cool things.

All caught up, finally!

It seems like I'm the only one who found the whole "Jared/Subway commercial for 10 minutes during the episode" annoying. I FF'ed through it.

Gina needs to go.

It's all about product placement and infomercials. TBL is the worst for that.

I loved when Gina said she could not count on a vote... no... no your certainly can't.

I really want Danni to win. Joe is solid... Gina just won't go away.

I have to admit I have a crush on Danni now. She looks good and busts her butt. I was also very impressed with Joe's brother. He looks like he's lost about as much weight at home as Joe did on the ranch.

Spot on Josh!  Joe's brother did a fantastic job without the world class trainers and ranch facilities..

I haven't seen this in a few years, and my wife was watching it the other night, so I casually watched while doing something else. The product placement stuff is off the charts crazy, and at times the show gets way over the top with the emotional moments/manipulation. And it really doesn't seem sensible or really possible to lose 12 or 14 pounds in a week, but after reading the article, the TV 'week' is not usually a week. And count me as a Danni fan.

What? No comments on make-over week?!

Maybe there are no comments because it was so boring. ?

No one's make-over wow'ed me. They all looked... eh. The reality is that when you are 150+ pounds overweight, when you lose 80 pounds, you are still... morbidly obese.

While I appreciate the kids working hard and being on the show... is it just me who doesn't think they have lost any weight? Those 3 kids look the same to me. *shrug*

I was impressed with all the weight the contestants lost at home. Especially with the silly food challenge each one had to go through. I mean really, the plate Gina was given at dinner... please. Total setup. I would hope all their families would be more supportive than "let's go to this restaurant and tempt you!" Certain that TV show did that for drama.

On the fear episode, how come Alex didn't have to do one (or did I miss it)?

We had the sharks, the singing, the "away for a week" crew, the coffin (!), the heights for all of them but what was Alex's?

Makeover was ok - I knew Danni would look smoking. She could stop now and I'd be ok with that.

I have no idea how those people lost that much weight, even if it was over 2 weeks.  And they weren't dogging it before you know, like all of those folks have been losing tons of weight.  Danni is amazing.  I even had a hard time hating Gina this episode.

I agree the makeovers were underwhelming but I don't think anyone looked morbidly obese. Danni looked great. Healthy and strong! Gina looked good too (i still dont like her though) The kids it was harder to tell but they looked healthier and their confidence was up! I notice more on the contestants their skin and coloring...especially on the face where they all start out so bloated and puffy and gray looking. Everyone carries weight (fat and muscle) differently on their bodies but they all are much much more fit for sure.

Fair enough, I was probably using the old definition of morbidly obese:

Obesity traditionally has been defined as a weight at least 20% above the weight corresponding to the lowest death rate for individuals of a specific height, gender, and age (ideal weight). Twenty to forty percent over ideal weight is considered mildly obese; 40-100% over ideal weight is considered moderately obese; and 100% over ideal weight is considered severely, or morbidly, obese.

I'm pretty sure most of those contestants are 20% over their ideal weight. BUT that is the old definition.

I think some of them are not 20-40% over their ideal weight, at this point.

For me, the show just hasn't been great since they started taking extremely overweight people on the show. A person who is 250 who loses 100 pounds and gains muscle, can look amazing. A person who is 400 pounds and loses 100 pounds, still looks overweight.

I just wasn't "wow'ed" by any of the contestants or how they looked. Danni came the closest to "wow'ing" me. I think she will be amazing at the final weigh in and I hope she wins.

While the kids are confident and exercising, which is great, I just couldn't SEE the results of all their hard work. Thus I was a bit disappointed.

The end result of the make-overs was much more casual than most times - which would suit me better, but the big guy wore jeans for his new outfit.  Most of the girls were dressed up but not real fancy like most times.  Most of their haircuts were very similar to what they were before the make-over too.  Thank goodness Jeff got rid of the "almost beard".

I haven't watched the episode yet but I haven't really liked the makeovers in years...I get that it boosts the confidence of the contestants because they get to fit into clothes they haven't fit, blah blah blah...but really, I'd rather see them get a makeover closer to the finale!  When it's a bigger difference!

I assume they are avoiding the before/after comparisons for the kids to take the spotlight off weight loss.  But I would wager they have all lost weight, or they are getting SO MUCH better clothes it's ridiculous.  Sunny, in particular, I thought looked really good.   Poor Lindsay just has a shape where she holds all her weight in the middle.   That genetic type is a hard cross to bear if you want to appear "thin."

I admit I was thinking "eh" when seeing how heavy Jackson still is, but then they showed the footage from the first episode and it's staggering.  Yes, those guys need to lose a lot more still.

No to belabor this point, but Gina was wearing a size 10 skirt.  While she is still overweight, she is not obese.  I am not trying to say that being overweight is "a-ok" health wise, but I feel confident in saying that about Gina.  I wish they said what size Danni wore.   She looked great but you can see her remaining problem areas.   But that's good for her, more opportunity to win!  I am just surprised by how much weight those sweatshirts add.  They looked so much better in real clothes.   Gina lost 75% of her neck!

I like Gina fine and I wish they hadn't focused on her negativity so much that one episode.    I doubt any of them are perfect and when you're starving yourself, I think you get extra leeway for saying dumb things.

I liked the episode. I could have lived without the fake dinner scenes, but oh well.  The fake-seeming "talks" with the kids also.

P.S. It was Joe, not Jeff, that has the twin brother.

The only problem is that a size 10 is meaningless... there is no standard for that.  Not to mention the fact that women's sizes have slowly creeped up along with the typical American's weight.  It's all marketing... what was a size 10 is now a size 18, etc.
