Well, my wife and my race manager Justin (ActiveJustin) are headed out this weekend to HI for the race of a lifetime.  Not sure how it is going to play out, but I am pretty happy with my race haircut. =) These pics are before they colored it.  The color is actually VERY blonde, so that when it starts to grow back in a few days from now, it should stand out.  Of course, If I am laid out at side of the road at mile 20 of the run portion, I'm not sure I want to stand out.  Ha!  Thanks a bunch to Dan Arnett at Endurance Concepts who has truly worked a miracle with me.  I was in Pulmonary ICU just 12 months ago with 4 blood clots in my lungs and spent another 7 months on the couch getting fat and lazy.  That all changed on April 15th when the lottery was announced.  I have been a headache I am sure to coach, but Dan has stuck through it all and I am as ready as I am going to be.  He is as good as it gets.

Wish me luck!!!!

Brian, all the hard work is in the bag. Now, go forth and finish it. You got this, no problem. Focus on what you can control, and let everything else go.

BTW, kickazz hard cut. Freaking sweet!

Brain - it's been great watching you come back from forced couch potato status.  You are super strong and have put all the work into making this the race you deserve.

Enjoy your great race dooo while you soak it all up during race week and here is to an amazing race!

Lisa B

PS - are you keeping a blog anywhere this week that we can follow?  J22 did that couple years back complete with pics (which you should have plenty of thanks to your race crew ActiveJustin and his pic taking abilities) and I almost felt like I was there with him and the family.

I have not kept a blog but I would be happy to post a few pics and thoughts on this thread if anyone is interested.  This place is pretty amazing and our condo is not bad, although is does NOT have AC.  Yikes.  Probably should have asked.  Lots of breeze from the ocean but HI is still a warm place.  No worries..we are blessed to even be here.  So anyway...

Day 1 - Travel day.  Spent almost 12 hours on a plane over 3 flights and a total of about 15 in airports, flyuing etc.  That combined with a serious time change and we were zombies when we got in.  The downtown area of Kona was bustling with music and people out but all I could think about was getting some grub and getting to bed.  After all is was 9PM HI time!  (3AM ATL time).  Took a few pics in Honolulu and it was weird to be so tired and the sun still be shining.

Day 2- Much better.  Awoke at 7AM and NFL games are on?  They start earlier in HI?  That's weird.  I went out for a walk and got a few pics of the surf and lava rocks near the ocean.  Interesting facts about The Big Island.  It is a 2-sided Island - Hilo and Kona.  Hilo averages more than 150" of rain a year and Kona averages 10" a year.  True fact.  No umbrella stores in Kona.  Small business idea if anyone is listening.  The island has the world's most active flowing volcano and because of this - it is actually ADDING real estate every single day.  Good place to be a realtor.  Anywho, after a few surf pics I found a small beach and there were about 15 locals surfing and bodysurfing is some serious surf.  I went closer to check it out and quickly found out this was the same crew that was in Point Break.  The ones that attacked Keanu.  I was like, "hey dudes, I am here for the race...Aloha."  They didnt care and chased me away.  I tried to explain as I was running for my life that I loved Point Break.  Didn't matter.  Got some breakfast about 10AM at Denny's and needed some serious coffee.  Problem was, it was 4PM ATL time and if I drink coffee that late in the afternoon, I'll never fall asleep.  Wait, wait time is it here?  Nevermind, I can't find my watch.  Drove around a bit and there are people running ad cycling everywhere.  And fast.  All the athletes are in a big hurry, pace wise.  Why not slow down and enjoy the scenery.  I got in an easy 4 miler in the afternoon and it was hot but ran it in 35:12.  Was passed 9 times by other runners.  I did fly by one dude.  He placed 3rd in in the 90-94 AG last year in

Kona.  No mercy.  Of course I was on mile 2 and he likely on mile 12.  Back to the crib and time to relax.  We leave to pick up Justin about 30 min.  I am looking forward to seeing him although I am sure he is exhausted. First couple pics are the view from our balcony and then a view of the surf from early this morning. FYI - the last pic is near that Point Break beach and it has a sign that says Kapu.  I took hawaiian in college and I think that means "private beach - no triathletes".  See everyone tomorrow!!
