I would think he would want to race courses with the toughest bike course...and IMSG makes a lot of sense for gaining Kona points. |

He will start the run with a 1-2 minute lead, he will either hang on to win, or will be passed in the last 2 miles to place 2nd or 3rd.

I think he needs a lot more than a 1-2 minute lead to contend for the win. More like 9-10 minutes. Looks like he picked a course that plays to his strength as the bike course is not flat but the run is. Guys like Jesse Thomas are going to run around 1:13 and I think LA will be around 1:22-1:23 range. Just my opinion. |

And did anyone else notice that Chris Lieto is also on the anticipated Pro List for Panama? This could be a very interesting race! |

None of his results have shown he has that kind of run speed. He may be able to crack 1:20 if it's a fast course but I think top 5 will be tough, top 3 unlikely. |

That assumes that Jesse Thomas is going to be within 10 minutes of Lance off the bike. I don't think the fast runners will be, but I am just speculating. I don't know of any of these athletes or their coaches personally. |

He raced Lieto in the Queen K Time Trial at the beginning of 2010 and only beat Lieto by about 15 seconds over around 18 miles. LA was at the beginning of year two of his pro-cycling comeback having finished 3rd at the TDF six months earlier, so it would be hard to say he was not in decent cycling form to do a short TT at that point. Add two years of age (40 years old vs. 38 yrs old), one year plus of being out of pro-cycling, and splitting training time between swim, bike and run, I do not see him coming out at the front or even top 5 on the bike. It is a safe bet he loses time on the run. My bet is he is fairly conservative on the bike and finishes in the top 20 overall, best case scenario. This is assuming he does not have a pre-race steak dinner.

If I remember correctly, it was LA that beat Lieto in that "TT". |

Lance did great things for pro cycling viewership, and I would expect the same for the Tri community. It's all about TV time, and ratings. I'm just waiting for the "I Tri with Lance" Stickers... So is Lance the new Chrissie for 2012? |

I don't know anything about the course....but I say I'm close. Like Bryan said....probably somewhere in the 4th-10th range. I don't think he'll have a big enough lead to beat Lieto, Reed, Docherty....etc. |

Well we don't know what Lance might do, but Chrissie was pretty special when it came to her willingness to interact with people. Can't imagine anyone not liking her. Also I am sure Lance has to be a bit more media shy - there will always be "those questions" after any type of race he does. He's a polarizing individual and there will be attention given. |
