  • Comments: This was a solid race. It was well organized and things ran on time. The course was scenic (with the exception of the rental car lots). Even though it has the vibe of a 'local' race, it isn't bad as a destination race if travel to San Diego is fairly convenient.

  • Comments: Overall, what an incredible first race! I woke up that morning thinking 'what the hell have I gotten myself into' but finished feeling so elated and blessed. I definitely have NO regrets as I felt like I gave everything I could and left it all on the course. All the credit goes to my wife for putting up with my training/diet needs for the past 3 months (I couldn't do it without my tri-sherpa) and my Tri-Rookies, Erin, James, Kate, Lisa, Mike and Roland (for giving me all of the helpful advice and support and putting up with my neurosis--I couldn't have found a better group of people to share this passion with!

  • Comments: This is a fun race. The swim feels like a pool - no chop or current. I love any bike ride that goes up that hill and gives such views of the Pacific and SD. The run is so flat that it really allows you to stretch your legs and keep a good turnover and speed. My first time but I am already looking forward to next year.

  • Comments: Competitive local event that attracts athletes from all over. Not crazy about the point-to-point run (we walked back to transition after the race - about 3 miles). Easy swim, fast bike and flat run.

  • Comments: Overall for the training I've done, I'm happy. I think that was actually a PR. Maybe I should do this race after some real training and see how I can do, I can tell I'm not in great triathlon shape, it'd be interesting to see what I could do if I was sticking to a solid program. I think I was 20th in my age group. Wow I'm slow! This race is always humbling with how fast some of the other racers are (whether I'm in prime shape or not, I still wouldn't get close to the times the top women in my age group were getting).

  • Comments: Only men were allowed to rack bikes the day before. LAME. Also, no finisher medals, only some piece of crap little pin. LAME. Will not do this race again.

  • Comments: Well organized event. I do wish it were a USAT sanctioned event. May not do it next year. Good post race band and food. Didnt' have to take the shuttle this year so didn't have to wait in line like last year. There were several of us VB's racing, which really makes it fun to be able to watch and cheer for each other. Lost my Garmin at this race. Now I need a new one. :-(

  • Comments: I give it a 4 instead of a 5 because the logistics are kind of a pain in the butt. You have to drop your bike off the night before, then because it is a point to point race, you have to take the shuttle (which does NOT run enough) back to the start or try to figure out another way to get back there. Would recommend just running back, actually. Good, tough course because of the bike. Pretty good post race activities with beer garden (which I unfortunately did not partake) and a band.

  • Comments: NEeded more buses to shuttle us back to the transition. Didn't like the way we had to walk to expo and drop off bikes day before, but it all seemed to work out. It really is a beautiful course with the San Diego bayfront and skyline as the back drop. We live in a beautiful area. I just posted the splits and am very pleased with my times. I may be in the MOP, but I'm damn happy about these times. If I'd of shortened up my transitions a bit I'd be a couple of places higher...no biggee.

  • Comments: I thought the race was very well organized. There were charter style buses to go back and forth from transition to the finish line, very nice buses so that was cool. Largest race for me yet, it was fun to be at a big one like that.

  • Comments: Overall, I want to say this was a well-organized race, but I can't. I felt the pre-race communication was awful, the packet pickup day was a mess, parking was ridiculous, and the fact that you had to shuttle from the finish line back to your gear at the transition area (with only two shuttles) was a pain. I understand the setup and it worked really well, but the logistics were not fun. Also, while there were lots of drink stations and volunteers, they were cruddy volunteers. Local high school kids that had to have been sophomores at the most, totally clueless and with not the greatest attitudes I've ever seen. All that said, I thought that the setup for the post race activities was fantastic, best I've yet experienced. The weather was gorgeous, the course was just challenging enough to make me want to work harder for next year, and I think this just might be my one Oly each year. Also, I liked that you got a tech T-shirt in your goodie back, but I would have preferred a finisher's

  • Comments: Missing the mile marker for mile five and six, other than that Koz does excellent work. Just one small complaint, the medal is not really a medal but a small pin, it doesn't look that they put much though into it, I mean you're putting a lot of work and effort in to it and at the end of the race and for many years to come that is the spark that lights wonderfull memories of the race, not much of spark huh.

  • Comments: I would certainly do this race again in hindsight. I recently completed the LA tri and had a great experience and a much better finish. i think i have learned to better prioritize my efforts on each segment and will have a much better overall time next year.

  • Comments: If it was not for my good swim I would be severly disappointed with this race. I finished slower then last year, by almost 2 minutes. I think my reduced training is really affecting my performance, just so hard to get all my workouts in every day. Hopefully Pendleton in 3 weeks will be a better race for me.

  • Comments: My 3rd "go" at the SD I'tal. I bested my prior best time by 7 minutes. A breakthorugh swim, a solid bike, and a very good run. I am fortunate enough to be 4 podiums in 4 triathlons so far this year!!! Woooo-hooo

  • Comments: Even though I had a tough day, this race was awesome. I really liked the course. I met most of the lifeguards along the way in my swim =) and they couldn't have been more helpful and supportive. Great volunteers all around and the folks watching and cheering were great too. This was a great learning experience and I'm eager to try this distance again soon.
