  • Comments: Race director was put in a difficult spot with calling off the swim. Most of the age groupers were complaining because they let the novices go swim even though they probably should not have. In the end i think it was the right decision and it's just shame that a lot of the novices may have been turned off or scared from that swim that they had to tackle.

  • Comments: They did the right thing cancelling the swim. I heard a kayak overturned in the waves. When they made the decision - they could have organized it a little different to limit some confusion - but they did a good job for having to do a 180 turn 10 minutes into the race.

  • Comments: Registration was waaay behind and we had to stand in line for 15 minutes. The race was delayed by 10 min. It wa the promoters first time doing Lake Mills so I am willing to give them a pass. Hopefully they will improve. I think they will. All other aspects of the event were great. Awesome support and volunteers.

  • Comments: Liked the burritos at the end. Packet pickup was a bit chaotic but the RD reacted quickly and got additional people to help out. The lines quickly diminished though they still needed to delay the start time 10 minutes.

  • Comments: Like I said in my report, I don't know if I will come back to this race. My bike broke because of the terrible roads. There were huge bumps that you just couldn't avoid and I am pretty bummed by that. It's been my favorite race so I will have to think about it next spring. It is a really great event though.

  • Comments: I've never done this race before and overall I thought it was very well run. They seemed to have plenty of very nice and enthusiastic volunteers and organizers. The weather was beautiful which always helps to make race day more enjoyable. I'm glad I signed up even though it was last minute. I'm wondering if there were a smaller number of athletes this year. I thought this race would have been bigger. It is a long walk from parking to transition which I normally wouldn't mention but since this is where I tripped over my bike while I was walking to transition I thought I would mention it.

  • Comments: Great location, nice people, plenty of volunteers, decent food. Few waves on the lake, pretty flat bike ride, and very flat and beautiful running path. And a nice warm sunny June day in Wisconsin... sweet! My goal was to complete a sprint tri (namely the Pewaukee event in July) in less that 1 1/2 hours. Didn't guess I'd beat that goal at this event! Although maybe the fact that the course was very flat and my swim wave was only 33 folks (so no jostling around to speak of) helped... hopefully I can hit 1 hour 30 minutes again in a month at Pewaukee. At any rate - I honestly just wanted to finish this one. After reviewing my results in the novice group (which in my opinion weren't all so novice - one guy I spoke with from my wave had completed over 20 sprints and an oly - and will run a HIM in 2 weeks) I find that until the run I was consistently in the top 4 (even with my slow transitions) - after T2 and as I began my run I was actually in 2nd place in the mens novice group! Sweet

  • Comments: The race was ok. My wife had spinal surgery the next day. That combined with how I felt after the race and that is why it has taken me two weeks to get a sub par report up. I honestly want to forget this one. I felt that the month off just before the race hurt me and told my brother pre race that I'd be ok with 1:48 as it would beat my last years time. My goal was much faster but I guess with all the badness that went down I'll be happy with at 6 minute increase.

  • Comments: I always love this race... two years ago at lake mills was the first triathlon i ever did... 87th that year... 45th last year... and 15th this year.. so have to be pleased with that... so my 5 goals... 1) Sub 1:10 - Not too far off at 1:10:41... 2) Top 30 OA - Very suprised by a 15th pace finish... 3) Top 3 AG - Thought I had it but finished 4th... 4) Top 5 run split - Snuck in at number 5... 5) PR all legs - PR'd the bike and run... probably swam as well as last year but the conditions made it tough to PR... aside from the nagging question in my mind about the distance of the run course... it was a great day and a fun race..

  • Comments: Always a great race to start the season. As always great to see and hang with my fellow Donks. Little smaller contingent than years past, but very enthusiatic! Pleased with race considering I did no taper at all. This was about 30 seconds off my PR for this race, however that was when the bike course was a mile shorter. So I think I could get credit for a PR. What do you think can I get credit for that? Maybe I will do one of these: PR*

  • Comments: Had to bolt right after the race to get back and coach my son's T-ball game. Sorry I couldn't stick around and hang with the Donks! As always, this was a fun, well-run race. With the conditions beings absolutely perfect to set a PR, I was disappointed my ankle prevented me from bringing my A-game, but it was fun nonetheless. One weird thing I noticed was even though my time was a little bit slower this year, my rank within my AG was considerably higher. So special thanks to my fellow codgers for going easy on me.

  • Comments: This was a PR for me in a lot of ways. The swim was much better than last year at this race. I actually swam the whole time, fast no, but really good for me.My bike is my best sport by far and I have improved that a lot in the past few months. I know with more training I can really crush it. I did fairly well on the run especially after the effort I was able to put out on the bike portion. My transitions have really improved with a lot of practice and from reading all of the helpful posts on this website (Oh, and ST too) Thanks everyone for the helpful info that you post on here for all of us newbies.

  • Comments: I think this is my only sprint this year as I am training for HIM and Olympic. It was a good workout for me and good practice in cold and wet conditions. I intend to do the race again next year and hopefully see some improvement.

  • Comments: So I took 2nd place in Clydes this year. As I was walking up to get my hardward, the Uecker section started yelling "step on a scale, step on a scale" Though it was quite humurous. The first place guy was smaller than me and got the same remarks. I did step on the scale when I got home - 202.5 lbs thank you very much.

  • Comments: Mixed feelings on race result... Like most, probably tend to be overly critical of race performance... and play the "what ifs"... always focused on where i screwed up... or where i could improve... i pretty much nailed or exceeded my goals on each leg of the race... sets PRs on both the bike and the run... however, to then screw it up in the transitions is pretty disappointing... Can't really blame it on the weather - as we all raced in the same conditions... Guess I'll chalk it up to inexperience (being my third 'real' triathlon, and first dealing with the cold and rain)... I feel like I should be happier with the results and improvements over last year, but those darn transitions overshadow them a bit at the moment... Great seeing everyone out there... and meeting some new folks as well... Anyway... feeling better today than yesterday about the results... now back to training...!!!
