I tried to sign up for the e-mail tracking as Trixie runs the Western States 100 today...but I got an error message.

Was anyone able to sign up that might be willing to post updates to BT for the less fortunate?

Pretty please?

I could not sign up for emails but you can click on the check point ad see where she is at.  She was thru the 3rd or 4th check point (27+ miles) in about 250th place.  Last time I checked only 77 ish participants had gone thru the next point

Link?  The only place I have found to click on the checkpoints reports status as "pre-start".

Subject: RE: Is anyone tracking Trixie?

Yes, "dropped"  Medical team pulled me. So technically I did not drop, I did not quit the race was forced to stop.

At mile 14, on a flat section of the course I bit it, hard. Tore up my knees and elbow, one knee hurt pretty bad, causing me to just be able to run flattish type sections....if you know the course, there are very few flat sections. In the first 29 miles I never ran more than 5 minutes at a stretch, but not many other people did either, way too much climbing and way too steep on the decline.  I'm thinking the knee and my altered running pace set me up for my downfall...

After 30 miles it turns into very very runable sections. Forced myself to join up with a few folks to make up sometime. I was right up against the cut off times. was within 30 minutes at one station. Two stations later had made up another hour and a half, by the time I made it to Devil's Thumb a had a 2.5 hour cushion.  Thought I was good as you can make up good time in the dark.

Made it to Devil's Thumb, climbing out of the canyon (1800 feet in 1.5 miles) but too much strain on my achilles, not completly torn, just a partial tear.  Left the Devil's Thumb station thinking I could walk to Michigan Bluff to meet the crew. Going back down the river I took an hour to go a half mile. Medical team was combing and told me I was done. Couldn't put enough weight on the foot to do anything. Michigan Bluff was down to the river and back out...would never had made it.

So....Medical team cut off the wristband...DNF. Some very very nice looking man carried me up the half mile STRAIGHT UP THE FREAKING MTN back to the aid station. CARRIED ME. so cool.

Funny thing is I talked myself out of a DNF two stations prior, weight was up 6 pounds, they pull "small women" at 3%....that's 5% for me.  So I lasted longer than they wanted me to, so there.  Hmpf.

Anywho, I'm done, and feel like I was hit by a train.  Feel just as bad as I did after finishing the first 100 miler.  But I'm ok with it. Nothing I could do, they weren't going to let me finish.

Thanks for watching me and thanks for the support. I'm sorry I didn't bring home a belt buckle for you guys.

Dang. Sorry to hear about that fall. I hope that running on it for 33? miles didn't exacerbate your injury too much, but I'll bet you will have physical therapy on it for a while. Oh well, here is to a hardcore endurance athlete that didn't give up until her leg literally gave out!

Hey, no fair hogging the cute guys to carry you around!  You already have DW.  Send Mr. Hot Guy HERE...tell him I will let him carry me wherever he wants.

I'm sorry it wasn't your day.  But the good news is that they hold this race EVERY year.

Sorry it didn't work out for you Trixie. You did what you could and maybe more than you should have. Hope the injury isn't serious and you recover quickly.

No matter what, you're still beautiful and a champion!!

I have this problem with a "filter" in my mind and can't use it, so I blurt out things a lot.  But, the above first sentence still holds true.

Heal up, and kick the double IM later!
