Makes me a little sad really. I agree. Why sad? This guy honored his beloved pet by immortalizing him in art. What if someone had done this to a human? I believe the animals deserves the at least similar respect as a dead human. If you want to stuff him and keep in in your home to remember him by it's still creepy but I can kind of understand that. But turning him into a toy. Pretty tasteless IMO. Which animals? The ones we've domesticated and taken into our homes? How about the strays that get euthanized then incinerated? Or did you mean the animals we slaughter, butcher, and eat. Maybe the road kill that rots in the ditch? Is it all animals, or just some animals? I don't believe any animal should have a motor shoved into it's body and wires run through it's skin just to make a novelty item. It's just disrespectful. We kill the cows and pigs for their meat. We use them. We euthanize the strays because they would starve otherwise. I'm no PETA supporter but there is a basic level of respect and I think this crosses that line. I seem to recall BT in a thread some time ago overwhelmingly saying we should not speak ill of the dead even if they did bad things. Yet it's OK to turn a dead pet into a toy for the sake of nothing better to do? Seems at odds. |
