I became a dad again this week, so it's been a good kind of chaos at my house. Won't be long until I get to try out the baby jogging stroller. Congrats |

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Congrats on the baby, Adam. That is another kind of endurance event! (Not a mom myself, but I have had a friend with a newborn stay with me for a month when her husband got sent off on a business assignment, so have been through a lot of the sleep deprivation!) |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Originally posted by ceilidh I went for a follow up about my knee and hip. My knee is healing nicely, my hip... well, it is healing, but much slower. I can swim and bike and walk, and run if it doesn't hurt too much. All of that is good news. We have loaded up the camper and are ready to leave at zero dark thirty to go an camp with friends in eastern NC. The place is a "hunting camp". Which means a tiny house on a bunch of property. We all will be in campers or tents and have meals in the house. It is gonna be COLD and windy. There will be much laughter and shenanigans. Raven is nervous and excited that she gets to go, too. We will stay until Saturday then meet some friends and camp in the wine section of NC until Monday. More laughter and shenanigans to be had. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. Good news about the knee, hopefully your hip gets the memo soon! Your camping excursion sounds fun, no doubt Raven will have a blast, too! |

I can't say the baby has been good for training, but it's been a wonderful experience thus far. Congratulations, Adam! I had a lovely Thanksgiving, starting off with a rather bracing Turkey Trot. It was awesome. Tiny Grandma (and YES, now I have have visions of Tiny Grandma dancing in my head in some kind of Elton John meets the Nutcracker kind of thing) is supposed to be discharged from the hospital this Friday. Why, I'm not exactly sure, as she still has an impacted bowel. I hope to chat with my parents later today and get another update. Hard to believe the December is around the corner, right? |

I know for me, it's such a crazy experience but definitely one of the more awe-inspiring things. Glad the new babe is settling in with the family. |

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED And stay warm! Horrid weather here. Not dangerous like some of the storms elsewhere, just yucky. About 37 degrees and raining hard most of the day! There was snow in the foothills above about 4000 feet--very pretty once the skies cleared late afternoon and we could see it. About ready to head back to Singapore for good! Would like to get back to running this weekend--hoping for at least drier weather, if not warmer. (Probably no riding--Andreas is still in the "hospital" getting various things fixed, and my trainer skewer is on him--couldn't find the other before the race so just left it in!) Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED First snow of the year (on the valley floor) overnight! Unfortunately it isn't powder down here (the mountains look beautiful, though) but wet and sloppy. Think I will do some indoor biking at the gym and hope for better running conditions tomorrow! |

After a few days of hamstring specific yoga and lots of time sitting on a lacrosse ball, I am back in action. |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Originally posted by jmkizer Racing Manatees!!! December 1-2 Is anyone else racing? Thanks everyone. This was a small event put on by my LBS. It may happen again in the spring. I had improved through the first three earlier in the year, had a lee stellar result in the end of November and then this one which was an OK result. It was windy (which reduced attendance) and the course goes through a few areas where you really feel it. So, I was a tad bit slower, which sucked that this one was the hardest working one yet. I'm looking forward to the spring. |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Originally posted by JBacarella Originally posted by jmkizer Good Luck racers. Be swift. Racing Manatees!!! December 1-2 Is anyone else racing? Thanks! I had a good run all things considered. Expectations are very important and mine were low. I was felled by a cold that turned into a sinus infection the previous week. So I hadn't run in the lead up to the race in at least a week. I also didn't train as much as i would have liked, or at least in the way i would have liked. Initially i had hoped to train for this as a run at a speedy time and get at least close to my pb time (48:44) - so it was not meant to be. Anyway, i decided yesterday just to push as hard as i could and see where it would land me. I am pretty impressed with my result of 54:13 - it was a mild day for Toronto. The ground was wet but overall good conditions. I made a few rookie mistakes - like eating and drinking too much the night before at a neighbour holiday party and feeling the, ahem, digestive impacts. I was thinking about doing a number 2 for 2/3's of the race which really diminishes the enjoyment. I know better - but i still did it. Underestimating the 10k. Hrm. |

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED But geese and ducks instead of monkeys! (I don't know what the deal is with Canada geese and the Boise area--it is just over-run with them in winter. As in hundreds or thousands on the golf course in the hills above us. Maybe they think it's a warmer place to spend the winter than Canada?!) |
