Glad your o.k.  And remember one of the best things for rehabing a separated shoulder is "SWIMMING".  That is how I got into this crazy thing.  Separated my shoulder playing Ice Hockey.  Water only resists as much as you press against it so it is great for rehab.  Hope you feel better.

Ouch!!  Sorry for the crash.  You need to crash like me at 4 MPH.  Hope recovery is quick and easy.

Very, very scary. My heart dropped reading about your crash. I am glad that it wasn't more serious. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

I hope for a speedy recovery!

First, I wish you a speedy recovery. It can take much longer for the mental wounds to heal such that you can get back into the thick of things in pack situations (took me almost two years before I'd get "in" the pack). Work on it. It's okay.

Second, this statement really has me worried:

"LBS I bought it at & will have it checked out at discouraged me from racing as it is dangerous...."

So the BIKE SHOP was discouraging you from racing? Um, I find that very self-defeating on their part. It CAN be dangerous. And especially in the less-experienced crowd. But I've never heard of a shop discouraging some one from giving it a go.

Damn, I really prefer not to add you to the 2007 injured club. I feel your pain.  Scary that you were out of it for that long. Still, have to consider yourself lucky. Hang in there. PM me any time to comiserate.

Recover quickly so you can get back on the horse that threw ya!

Occasionally I think about entering bike races, I've done a few time trials, and may do a road race or two later this year. But everytime I hear crit outcomes like this it cures any desire I have to put my body and bike at risk in this fashion . Crits have to be the most dangerous types of races we triathletes/cyclists can be exposed to. Scary indeed.

Ouch!  So sorry to hear about the crash, but glad the helmet did its job keeping it from being any worse for you.

Get some rest and I hope you heal up quickly!

Yow. Clicked here thinking it would be more of a "theoretical" thread, or possible something you observed. So sorry to hear that your number came up. Sounds like you were out kicking red bike before things went south.

Wishing you a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.

Well that just sucks. Heal quickly and painlessly. Then get out there and ride...carefully maybe.

Me too! I thought surely someone had witnessed something, didn't even occur to me that someone was a part of it! Here's to a speedy recovery, Kathy, glad you made it out in one piece!

Wow - sorry to hear about your accident. I also have read your posts for some time now and you are always positive, inspirational and real with your advice. I know you will recover from this. I am new to this sport and am hard headed about some things - wearing a helmet being one of them. You have made me realize a helmet is a necessity - whether racing or not.
Thank you - and here is hoping for your speedy recovery.
