My bike total is up slightly, run and swim are down. The run is because of some early season injuries that I am just fully getting over now. The lower swim numbers are just because I got lazy going to masters this fall. Still have an hour or two scheduled on the bike and run and 3 hours in the pool on NYE for a 100x100m set. |

2010 (so far)
The only thing that went up was my run... how crappy! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2010 totals I am not surprised at all by the swimming increase, but thought I would have more run and bike miles this year. I did my first HIM this summer, in addition to 15 other races. Pretty good for so few hours - ha ha. Edited by BikerGrrrl 2010-12-30 12:20 PM |

I am happy with my swim totals this year. I really made an effort to get in the pool to be ready for IMAZ. Could have done more on the bike though. Looks like I need to run 6 miles between today and tomorrow to beat last years totals.

Total training time was about 670 hours, so averaging 13+ hours per week in 2010 vs. 592 hours in 2009, averaging 12 hours per week. With the exception of Hawaii, it was my best year of racing form a result standpoint, although I think I went a bit beyond what my personal training limit in building for Kona and got hurt and was a little too broken down to perfrom well. I don't think I will reach for that kind of volume in the future, I don't feel that I respond as well to it. For fun, I calculated what my pace was for all my running and biking. I ran 1701.94 miles averaging a 7:15 pace and rode 6567.37 miles averaging 21.27 mph. Can't do the swimming as times include rest and are usually approximated for total time. Here's the calculator I used if anyone wants to give it a spin: http://users.penn.com/~bczappa/PaceCalculator.htmSo 2010 is almost in the books, my 5th year in the sport done and dusted, bring on 2011! Happy New Year everyone. ![]() What do you mean???? I'm going to lose my training data if I'm not a paying member???? Did I miss a memo???? Please let me know!!!!! |

Main difference for me for 2009 to 2010 was that I had a bike crash in 2009 so I had to stop biking for awhile and stopped swimming for awhile. I ran a bit more a did more ultras as a result of that so more running in 2009. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2009 was first IM in June, 2010 was more run focus with marathon in May, HIM and some HMs through season. 2011 goes back to IM, hopefully maintaining the same run volume and bringing the other 2 up to compete. 2009 avg run pace 5:52m/km (9:30m/mile) 2010 avg run pace 5:17m/km (8:30m/mile)
Bryan, instead of Blog or Calandar, go to Year, then Actual and it shows avg paces/speeds etc at the bottom. |

B: Have not put this much milage on a bike since college. Forgot how much I missed riding. -- peak week(s) during summer training: 100 - 110 mpw. R: Turns out I really like running, perhaps most of all SBR. Have start/stopped many times over many years and finally made a go of it this year. Key to enjoying it for me was to slow down. -- 34 mpw, working towards 35mpw average in Jan, assuming rehab of my calf continues as well as it's going 2009: S: Doggy paddle at best. B: I have two - both are in the corner collecting way too much dust/cobwebs R: Why? Looking forward to 2011. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Deleting all my non SBR stuff from 2010, my totals look pretty pathetic! I am stunned that I only biked 786 miles...stunned. I really thought I was doing more biking. I guess it's time to include it in my formal training plans! I started running & swimming in Nov of 2009 but I didn't log anything at BT until the end of December so my 2009 totals are misleading. 2010 totals Bike: 56h 16m 36s - 786.7 Mi Run: 43h 11m 09s - 214.23 Mi Swim: 34h 16m 19s - 60799.61 Yd 2009 totals |

^^^^Didn't get a bike till Oct 2009, and didn't start "anti drowning technique" till Nov 2009 |

(Year's not quite over...I included 20 mins. planned for the treadmill tomorrow morning before flying back to LA.) Series of injuries (hip bursitis, sciatica, ITBS) from January to May during training for IM St George pretty much balanced out by streak of 233 straight days of swim, bike and/or run from early May to late December. Deciding to do a 2nd marathon in a year for the first time ever pulled my run numbers up, but held bike total a bit below what I would have predicted a year ago. Turned 50 this year...pretty happy with where I'm at, fitness-wise, a few injuries notwithstanding. Seven years after getting up, obese, off the couch, I managed my 2nd IM and two marathons--one a BQ--during the year and I'm still down the 75 lbs I managed to lose. 2009 was a HIM. 2010 was a full IM and Olympic. One would think I'd have a more significant 2010 training volume. then again, as per Garryyyy's observation on the COJ thread - I DO feel 3x stronger after 2010 w/ tripling my strength training...
