I'm registered and will do a silent run here in Granville, Ohio.

Life is so precious.  Take a minute to hug your loved ones and tell them just how important they are in your life.

Love and peace to Christine's family.

not to be a jerk or anything....but I think I'd rather send a donation to the RD who is going to make sure funds get to the family. I just hate to see Active.com making out from all of this. Do you think Active.com would donate their proceeds from the virtual signups?

I'm completely with you on this Ellen. I'm waiting for the paypal acct to open, but in the meantime will run up here in the northeast in remembrance. (Maybe we can do a slow ugly jog up your way in the beautiful NH mountains??!)

i feel the same.  i have been trolling all the Christine threads for info on the paypal account because i'd rather give that way than have anything go to Active.  i want everything i give to go straight to the family, if possible...so trix, please keep us posted for when it's up and running.   i will be running the virtual 5k on friday anyway, but i might not be officially registered for the race, will wait for paypal if it's coming.

RIP christine....

I feel the same way. I despise Active but so want to contribute to Christine's family. Thanks Trixie, Renee and Tri Take Me Away for working on this.

I was thinking the same thing.  I so don't like paying Active.Com when I can avoid it.  Even prefer snail mail....

I was thinking that maybe everyone could take a picture of themselves, or their group, running in memory of Christine. Maybe make a simple sign that says "I run for Christine". Then we could mail all the pictures to one central member who can forward them to the family...so they can see how many lives she touched all across the country.

Yes. Chris and I were going to do that anyway! Take a picture of ourselves right after our 5K for Christine.

Then we can compile those photos into a tribute thread, that can be printed or preserved somehow for the family...?

Sounds like a good idea. I have already registered with Active, but would also donate through paypal. I will be running here in South Korea Saturday morning, which is Friday night in the U.S.

Jessica (TriTakeMeAway) is taking the lead and working with others on setting up an account for the Rusher Family. You are all so very good and kind to want to do more for the family. Be patient; the information will be posted once the details are in place.

Registered. Eric I will run either Friday evening or Saturday.

If I plan the route right, we'll end up at the Charles Schultz Museum, where I think I can get a photo of us with the Lucy statue.

And seeing as one of her goals was a sub-30 5k, what do we think about all running a ~29 minute 5k to help pace her to the goal?  Bring your favorite picture of Christine, and we all run across the finish together with her for a sub-30?

Registered... This afternoon I did my last run here at home before leaving for Lake Placid. I ran through fields surrounded by nature on a beautiful summer day. I didn't have the opportunity to meet Christine in this lifetime but I could definitely feel her spirit. My run was dedicated to her and all those who shared in the wealth of knowing her. Lucy, you will be missed.

Jeff (Q) will post a link in the morning to the reversed images that are ready to be printed onto a t-shirt transfer sheet.

If you are going to be at the 5k in Lithia, FL on Friday, please PM me if you would like a shirt.  I am going to produce a bunch of the shirts and I want to make sure that everyone who wants one gets one.

I just wanted to note that I know one person who has expressed a desire to run the distance but has not run in a long time, and it occurred to me that there may be others that wish to run but can't run - injuries, etc. for whatever reason.

I would be one of those people (injuries), Ive registered... dont even know a route thats 5k in length but I will come up with something.

Based on her sub 30min goal I might go for a 29 minute walk or something similar... if anyones got any appropriate ideas please let me know...

Will be doing it at 9am Saturday me time to be out with everyone else

I don't know Christine but we, our families and friends have all been touched by tragedy and adversity.  This community has been an inspiration to me and I am honored to do something small in return.  Registered and will run a 5K on Friday in Connecticut.

A number of people have asked how they can contribute more than the $12.00 registration fee. I set up a PayPal account for this purpose:

[email protected]

Money can be sent to this account which will then be transferred to a bank account which is being set up by Jess (Tri Take Me Away) specifically for this purpose. An accounting of the funds raised and donated will be published here upon their being transferred to the bank.

I'm in...I'll add a run in this Friday morning in her honor. And I think it is absolutely amazing (and rare) to see such an outpouring of support and energy by everyone. In a world where pessimism, distrust and apathy seem to be the standards of the day this site and group of amazing individuals is an inspiration. I love this community and this site!

Now get out there and run/walk/whatever a kick butt 5k for Christine!

Wow, how sad.  I cannot imagine what her family is going through right now.  And it hits close to home Christine being from Tampa (my hometown).  I really wish I could make it up there for the run but cannot.  My next 5k is going to be spent thinking about how precious life really is...

Godspeed Lucy...
