It has been added to the album.

That will only last a week, because construction on his bathroom starts Monday. The transition for my Mom has been bumpy (being kind). She had a 3 day hospital stay that was horrible. Alzheimer's and hospitals are a really bad mix. They are not set up for a person with the disease, between the noise and sterile environment and the staff not being trained for a person with her needs, it took a very confused lady and turned her into very very angry lady. The Exorcist may have been mentioned more than once. Plus, dealing with the requirements for medicare and medicaid added to the stress. I have a lot of experience planning for it, but never had to implement a plan. My wife has a lot of experience admitting a person into a nursing home, but has never had to have one admitted. Siblings and their spouses do not help. My wife may have mentioned throat punch and sister in law (my brother's wife) a couple of times. It is amazing how selfish people can be. The end result is both are settled in and doing well, in their new environment. My Dad said it is like a 100 lb weight has been lifted off of his shoulders and seems relaxed for the first time in a long time. By the way did I mention that I had 3 trials and 2 contested hearings including testimony in the past 2 weeks. No stress here. I have been able to resume normal training this week. I need it. Also, Thank you for your concern and kind words. I have to admit that I really like the inspirations. I never knew about them before joining the group.
Wow, thats a lot to tackle all at once. I am sure its good that you carve out that time for yourself for training.

I think that training helps to minimize the throat punches.

I was thinking the same thing! Siblings and siblings-in-law can be a challenge.

Wow - that IS a lot!  Def feel you on the sib-in-law front (although my own sibs are, in the main, darlings - thank heaven).  Great that you can step in and step up like that for family.

MDDS can be terrible - I always have about 12 hours of it after a day on the boat and a bit over a day if I'm aboard for a week or longer.  Thankfully stops then, but I do have a vestibular thingie  (positional but not BPV - doc was no more specific than "thingie") that makes flip turns even more interesting than the typical tri-hack!  Only happens when rotating in a certain plain, but if I had to deal with it for days, I'd lose my mind!  Hope you feel normal soon.

Nice bike (makes me want to at least wash mine or something!).  Bike porn gives all the feels...

And Finley!  That's a great picture of him.  Glad his spirits seem so high!

Matt

Dave- I love the bike congratulations.

I am glad Fin is doing well. He is so stinking cute.

Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts. I really appreciate it. We are settling in really well. The move has been so good for both of them. It has been good for me too.

Exercise does remove the need to throat punch a person.

Ditto on both of those.

And Dave, glad to hear things are settling down for you. And good on your wife to resist the urge to throat punch. Sometimes it can be too powerful to overcome.

Here is a proof of Life post from me. I had some Family obligations with my significant others brother in town with his 18 month old daughter. I was on baby sitting duty a few days and then took them to see the rest of the family in Indianapolis. After being around all of the kids I got sick and stayed home from work a couple of days. I actually did get some workouts in, but have not posted Saturday, Monday, or Tuesdays workout. I will get that done after work.

I skimmed through the posts and it looks like a lot people are seeing some good gains. Congrats everyone and let's keep it going. I hope to be joining you soon with some more consistent workouts.

Thanks for checking in!  We were wondering if you were still Manatee-ing with us! I'm glad that you are feeling better.

I've been getting back to regular quality workouts on the track the past month or so. It's always hard transitioning back into that kind of running but I got a big win, or at least some validation. We did a pretty long workout the other night. It was 4 x 200, with 200 active recovery, 2 miles faster than tempo then 4 x 200, faster than the first set. Me and one other were the only one to complete the full workout and since I had raced over the weekend, those last couple of 200s really took some effort and focus. Anyway, the next day I got a facebook message from a guy who runs with the group who actually took the time to look me up  and send me a message saying how he and the group of runners he was with were talking about how great my form was.

I do this stuff for myself with the goal to always improve but it really is nice to get occasional unsolicited positive feedback!

A whole lot of stuff happening in the pod!

I'm sure the day is looming nigh for when I will also become the parent of an octogenarian, and I'm not at all prepared for that day.  I'm still believing that my parents will live forever & will always be there for me.  Aaah denial!

Dave - SWEEET new ride!  I took George in to be tuned up & was secretly hoping they would find a LOT wrong with him as there was a brand new Cervelo P3 that I was absolutely coveting!  Sadly, I got the call saying George was in great condition & my spending has thus been curbed... for now.

Darren - so happy to hear that Fin is doing so well!  He is seriously upping the cute factor!

Chris - glad you're home safe & sound & ready for new adventures with TW

That's about all I've got for now, hope you're all doing well & just ONE more sleep until vacation for me!  :D

Happy Friday, Pod! I just tried out a new conditioner, and I wanted to give it my seal of approval. Babo Botanicals Swim & Sport Conditioner looks to actually be a baby product, but it is working out great for me! I have a sensitive scalp that tends to crack and bleed (so sexy!) when exposed to certain ingredients, and this has been wonderful. Sulfate free, and also a whole slew of other "free" things: gluten, nut oil, soy, tear, etc.
The scent it light when in the shower, but doesn't linger when my hair is dry. I may just be immune to it now, but I swear my hair doesn't smell like chlorine, and it sure doesn't feel like I swim 3x a week. Silky!

Anybody have any other suggestions for skin/body? I love what training does for my mind, body, and spirit, but I'm really not a fan of how my poor skin is holding up.

We are in the same boat with hair and skin... I have to be pretty much chemical free (for shampoo I use Shea Moisture or a shampoo bar from Chagrin Valley). For skin, I switched to Dove sensitive skin bar soap and literally all of my skin issues went away. If I need lotion, I use either Eucerin Eczema formula or Ology, which is a Walgreens brand that is chemical free. I think the biggest difference maker was the soap though.

Edit: I also switched to a natural deodorant. I made my own for about a year and a half, then discovered one (on Shark Tank of all places) with activated charcoal that is amazing. I just ordered more out of convenience, but my goal is to figure out how to replicate the formula at home.

I tried the Dove sensitive bar and bodywash, and while neither gave me any reactions, I don't feel like they cleaned me very well. Or maybe I'm just like the stinky kid from school?! Forever doomed to smell bad!

Is it just lately that skin issues have been happening?  When I used to swim 4 times a week I noticed that during the less humid months (winter and early spring), my skin would be pretty dry, but as humidity crept up it wasn't as much of an issue.

I so hear you. So. Hear. You. Every word, every part. I'm glad to hear your Dad is doing well. As for your Mom ... there's not much good about Alzheimer's, not much at all, except that often they don't remember the bad bits either.

Be good to yourself. The stress of trying times, like any injury, can take a few weeks to shake out. This is all stuff you know, but still, be good to yourself.

A good thought, but I'm afraid its been a lifelong struggle. I'm recalling a particular incident when I had to quit a job after just a few days because the smock I had to wear caused my neck to bleed and my arms broke out in hives. Really sad about that one...would have been a great employee discount.

GO RACING MANATEES!

Heal up, sickies and stressies! Joy about the mini-Dazzers being dazzling again. Great pic

My life is its usual Olympic-championship Ping-Pong doubles match.

I'm officially an immunocompromised person, which is really not news to anybody. It just (hopefully) means any new doctors (of which there will be several) will understand that the "and your body will do the rest" strategy is just not applicable here!

My sister and I have both been exhausted and feeling like we're just always desperately trying to catch up since our dad passed 3 years ago, which is also when the race reports pretty much stopped, heh. Then we realize that in addition to our own at-least-2-jobs-each plus training, community stuff, family, blah blah, maybe like a wedding or 7 ... in that time, we managed to undo and sort 50 years of my dad's horrendous business and personal management and turn his company back into a very profitable one. That all got dashed to hell a while ago but we're doing it all over again. And it's okay.

And so am I

This next bit is majorly under wraps for the moment (gee that's why I'm posting it in a public forum that I know has stalkers! Ha!) ... those of you who know me know of my fervent addiction to a certain historical bike race (putting it mildly). I may know someone involved with that event who may have invited me to go and be involved too. OMG IM SO EXCITED DONT CARE IF I GOTTA GO INTO DEBT FOR THE NEXT 20YRS TO FINANCE THIS TRIP WEEEEEEEE ... yeah.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
