Originally posted by CRFTX2001 Congratulations racers for your hard work this weekend. Happy Birthday Monica and Randee! I've been gone for more than a week, so let me catch you up. After the race, my family went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate my sister's birthday. The next morning, I had a terrible stomach ache. Normally that will happen the night of the adventure, but this lasted until Wednesday coughing all along the way. Because of this, I wasn't able to do any kind of exercise, which makes me antsy and a little bit more prone to cramping up out of nowhere. It happened something like 10 times this week. Anyway, I went out for an easy bike ride today to test where I was at and see if I was in the clear to start some sort of exercise routine. I can tell you that I am NOT ready. I started coughing intensely every time I put in some sort of effort harder than a leisurely pedal. Oh well, another few days of lying on my butt all day, but at least the stomach ache is gone and all I have to worry about is this stupid respiratory thing. Other than being sick, I did have a fun spring break and I'm hopeful that my life will return to normal soon. P.S. Sorry about all of the complaining lately. Not being to do what I want to do sometimes gets me in a bad mood, and that's when I feel compelled to post.

Venting is allowed here.  Most of us have had some sort of frustrating -- and often untimely -- injury or illness.  Hopefully you'll be back at it again soon!  Take care!

Get some "Coliodal Silver" and wipe it over the wound 3 or 4 times a day. It will help to rapidly clear up the infection. You can get it in a spray here too.

We use it on our dogs regularly. One of them got punctured by a tooth of another last week when they were playing. It started to swell and show signs of infection within a couple of hours. Started spraying it with Coloidal Silver about 4 times a day and in less than 36 hours later it was totally healed.

Now you made me concerned, because my kids and I got cat bites so many times and we never ever went for a shot... I hope we are fine.......?
I hope your ...wound... heals quickly. When I started reading your post I thought: oh gosh I would take him... but I already have two... should I go crazy...?

As the owner of the world's meanest cat ( flufy with one f, at times I wished we had no f in flufy). I'm surprised too. We have all had an undeserved flufy bite without an issue. We did do immediate wound care, washing and antibiotic, because she went through a period in which she was semi-feral. Her worst trick is to bite you in the butt when you are bent over taking laundry out of the dryer.

bwahahahaha I'm sorry, but that was too funny ))))

Hi all - checking back in after a week away.  Aside from several mean cats and some great power results, and maybe even because of those, all seems pretty normal in manatee land!

I managed 45' on the trainer today before I had to stop.  Costa Rica with the fam last week was a blast - but beat us up!

A bruised or broken rib (pathetically enough, first from coughing a few weeks back - which then went "POP" while rafting some legit class 4 rapids), a bruised and maybe broken foot (surfing - ended a nice ride by "leaping" off the board... and onto a submerged rock - foot still looks like a sausage) and a rung bell (steel cable to the side of the head zip lining) made last week... interesting.

Kim got "stung" by sailfish slime, Meghan (daughter) got stung by some weird and nasty wasp on a mountain top - a long way from Benadryl or epinephrine (but didn't swell except at the sting, thank goodness), all 5 of us got pretty well cut up doing some awesome surfing...  At least that proved that there really were no sharks cruising the inshore waters.

Weird that we were all relatively breakable, but a GREAT week!  Totally worth it.

I go for x-rays tomorrow.  Now I know why it's called spring "break" (OK, that was bad).

Hope all's well with the pod!

Matt

I did when I had that bad hamstring injury in 2014 but I never showed improvement from it. I think it works but it just didn't work for me. Lots of massages and taking it easy is what finally healed my hamstring. Once healed I had to do a lot of strength work in the off season to strengthen the parts of my legs that don't get attention from swim/bike/run

Rib injuries are not fun, but hopefully you'll do like I did and go from feeling awful to alright within 2 weeks.

Ha ha ha ha ha, great pic and comment!  I'm not sure what made me chuckle more today, the butt-biting cat story or this post.

But seriously, McMatt, please heal up, and your family, too.  That's a rough week!

drive by posting to give some love to Brooks....

My latest pair of Ghost 8s developed a fold under the tongue of the right shoe. It really bothers me and hurts pretty bad after a hard run. I took some pics and sent them to Brooks. They are sending me a brand new pair - and didn't even ask for this pair back!? WOO HOO!

carry on.

Proof of life post!  Ugh, work is interfering with my life again.  Keeping up with my training, but not finding much time for posting.

Belated birthday wishes to Monica and Randee!

I did something incredibly stupid the other day.  I still can't believe it.  I had my first outdoor ride on Saturday.  I have been thinking about starting to ride commute to my full time job.  A replacement bridge that was built includes a bike lane now, so I wanted to check out the new route I would take.  I was going to work at my part time job, so decided to just take the long way there.  Haven't ridden my roadie in awhile, so made sure all was working well the night before and all was good.   Came home from swimming, got everything ready, carried bike and all equipment down the stairs telling myself "don't forget your helmet".  Guess what?  FORGOT MY HELMET!  OMG, I didn't notice until I was about 2 km from my destination (so after about 18km of riding).  I never ride without a helmet.  NEVER.  I have no idea what happened that morning to make me not put it on.  I am just so incredibly grateful that nothing bad happened.  There is a bike shop across the street from my work, so now I have two helmets.  Jeebus, I might just wear one all the time so I don't forget it next time!

Sorry to hear that many of our pod members are sick or injured.  Take care, heal up and come back strong!

Don't feel too bad. Pretty much every time I go for an outdoor ride, I manage to forget something. Sometimes I realize it before I hit the road; sometimes I don't. Fortunately the only time I forgot my helmet I was riding with a buddy and she asked me about it, so went back to get it! But I have forgotten gloves, water, food, bike computer, the workout, bike shorts (headed out in whatever shorts I was sleeping in), bike shoes, sunglasses, you name it. More times than I care to admit, I've ridden in aero for a couple of hours wondering why my neck feels so out of whack, then suddenly realized I never removed the visor from my helmet after my last MTB or roadie joyride. I have even (embarrassingly) done races with the visor on the helmet, as well as with my trainer tire still on the bike.

I think it's because I don't ride outside much. Outside of the few months before a race, I can go for months just riding the trainer here in Vietnam. (Outdoors really isn't that safe, or appealing.)

forgetting a helmet is scary after the fact, for sure.  Glad nothing happened on the ride!

Although I haven't (yet) done this, I have seen several people run right out of T2 with their helmet still on at various races.  A very safe run, I suppose...

That made me chuckle. My life is way to boring to worry about keeping it secret.
