Subject: RE: Long ride hydration?the bear - 2009-06-22 11:10 AM Define "long ride."
Under two hours I'll get by with a bottle or two. Longer rides I'll take the camelback, on hot days i'll half fill it, inflate the bladder, freeze it, then fill it the rest of the way, usually with gatorade, regular or endurance. That will last me about three hours. If i go longer than that, I'll bring along the bottles too, and/or stop at a convenience store to refill the camelback. Well I purposely left it vague, since I know it varies a lot from person to person, according to their fitness level and perspiration rate. Since my fitness level still stinks, I'm fairly sure I require more hydration than others for the same distance. And I haven't measured my persp. rate yet. I like your idea of freezing the camelbak half-full, then filling it. One of the things steering me away from getting a camelbak is I know my back would get really hot and sweaty -- but I can see how having something cool there would definitely help! (Or does the camelbak have a lot of insulation? ) |
