Hey everyone, I know I've been MIA for a while during my injury.
I just wanted to put this out there for anyone that will be around at the Columbia Tri.
At around 11:00-11:30 Erin, my girl friend will be finishing the race.
I will be at the finish line proposing to her.
I'm in contact right now with Vigorito setting something up.

I'm planning on also planting a few signs along the run course to encourage her.
And also some sidewalk chalk if I have time.
Let me know if anyone has any other good ideas.
Thanks.

That's awesome!  I'm afraid I don't have any great ideas (I got engaged at a winery in Sonoma).

Are you planning on jumping through the ropes at the end of the finish chute?  Now THAT would be memorable.

Good luck!

Not sure if they do finisher medals at Columbia, but if they do, maybe you could give hers with a diamond attached.

They do medals at the end of Columbia.  Not a bad idea.  I should be finishing around the same time.  I'll see ya there James.

congrats! what a way to end a race!! a couple of my teammates got engaged just before crossing the finish line at big sur - close enough to the finish line that the race photographer had a field day. made for a helluva story, too.

my 12yo daughter's volunteering at the finish line handing out medals and can't wait to see it (she also hopes erin says yes, and also suggested attaching the ring to the medal).

I expect to be exhausted and a bit incoherent at the end of the race; I hope she can understand what you're asking

Congrats!

James

Congratulations! Fortunately I'm old and slow as hell so I was lucky to finish just ahead of Erin. I had a front row seat for the question.

Congrats!

And I must say that it is impressive that you have enough confidence in your future wife that you know she'll say the right thing even right after finishing a tough tri. Sounds like a keeper.
